Bhubaneswar: Former state minister Ganeswar Behera resigned from the primary membership of the Congress on Tuesday.

He sent his resignation letter to the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) President, Sarat Patnaik.

While parting way from the grand old party, Behera thanked the party for giving him opportunity to serve the people of Odisha as an MLA and Congress worker.

According to sources, Behera is likely to join the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). It is being speculated that the BJD may nominate him as its candidate from the Kendrapara assembly seat.

In 2019, Shashi Bhusan Behera of BJD had won the seat by defeating Behera by a margin of 6320 votes.
