14th Annual Day Celebration of OPS held at Rayagada

Rayagada:14th annual day celebration of the Odisha Patrakar Sangha was held at Hotel Banshikrishna in Rayagada under the chairmanship of State President Abinash Mishra. Rayagada MLA Mr. Makarand Muduli, the chief guest, emphasized the journalist’s role as a watchdog in democracy. He stated that the power lied in the journalist’s pen. He advised journalist friends to always provide true and unbiased news. Guest of honour Dr. Dayanidhi Bagh, PD watershed praised the work of journalists, emphasizing the importance of enhancing news quality. Deputy Commandant of CRPF 4th Battalion, Mr. Soumya Acharya, highlighted the significance of the journalist’s pen, which is mightier than sword. So the scribes should take utmost care in projecting the news so that community is at peace.
Another guest, Mr. Shakti Prasad Panigrahi, Senior Manager (PR & CSR) of IMFA Theruballi expressed his views on various problems and activities of journalists. Centurion University Director Dr. Rajesh Kumar Padhi highlighted his experience regarding the plight of journalists.
Senior Journalist Dr. Badal Kumar Tah, keynote speaker, discussed various problems faced by journalists, several prospects and hopes and highlighted bureaucratic practices in the current situation. State President of Odisha Patrakar Sangha, Mr. Abinash Mishra emphasized in his speech that journalists of print, electronic and digital media should prioritize the truth of the news over TRP and virals, protecting the decency in the field of journalism.
Mr. Ramdas Lima, State General Secretary, Odisha Patrakar Sangha introduced the guests, presented editorial details and moderated & coordinated the meeting. Several senior journalists and gentries of the district were felicitated for their outstanding contributions in various fields. Among them, Deputy Manager (PR & CSR) JK Papers, Harihar Khamari, Senior Journalists Ranjan Kumar Rath, GH Nagaraju, Sibasai Baxipatra, Rajendra Kumar Mishra, and Miss A. Neha Patnaik(Sportsperson) were awarded.
Representatives from various districts of the state participated in the program. State Vice President Suresh Dash, Har Prasad Das and State Organizational Secretary Kishore Chandra Rath were present alongwith Union Members and Rayagada District Committee President Raghunath Kamba, Secretary Umashnkar Padhi, Members Sunil Pani, Aloy Maharana, Rajesh Kumbar, Sushant Das, Vijay Das, Shiva Padhi, Gauri Shankar Patnaik, and Deepak Kumar Pati who contributed to the meeting. State Secretary Nalini Kumar Pani gave vote of thanks.
