Dr. P.L. Gautam interacted with scientists and students at ICAR-RCER, Patna

Patna:Dr. P.L. Gautam, the former Vice-Chancellor of GBPUA&T and former Deputy Director General of Crop Science, visited ICAR-RCER, Patna on December 14, 2023. During his visit, Dr. Gautam engaged enthusiastically in an interactive session with scientists and students in the institute. In his address, Dr. Gautam highlighted the productivity potential of Bihar and its crucial role in the green revolution, particularly in terms of making available required manpower. He delved into pertinent agricultural issues in Bihar, such as floods, droughts, and terminal heat stress and many others. Dr. Gautam also shed light on the illustrious history of Indian agriculture, aiming to inspire the newly admitted students of the IARI-Patna Hub. During the interaction with the students, he encouraged them to actively engage in collaborative efforts with scientists. Dr. Gautam emphasized the collective responsibility of  both scientists and students in contributing to societal well-being and tackling challenges in agriculture. In conclusion, Dr. P.L. Gautam suggested fostering a collaborative spirit among scientists and students for the betterment of society and reaffirmed the importance of teamwork in addressing agricultural challenges.

Commencing the program, Dr. Anup Das, the Director of the Institute, extended a cordial welcome to the distinguished Chief Guest, Dr. P.L. Gautam. He presented an overview of the institute’s current research initiatives and highlighted its noteworthy contributions to society and also provided a briefing on the recently established IARI-Patna Hub. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks extended by Dr. Ashutosh Upadhyaya, Head, DLWM.
