Collector proacts upon denizens’ appeal to defer eviction from railway land

Rayagada, December 6: A group of people from Muniguda namely Tankadhar Kuslia, T Ashok Kumar, K Santosh Kumar, Gouri Shankar Patra, Pradip Patra, Natabar Singh, Jagatlal Singh, Rambar Singh, M Sinivas Rao, Kanhu Charan Patra, Nirakar Behera, Chaitanya Panda, Srikanta Sahu, Paramanada Sahu, Krushna Patra and others representing the petty business persons and families inhabiting beside the main road of Muniguda block headquarters has given a memorandum to the district Collector Swadha Dev Singh to stall the eviction process initiated by Railway deptt.

As per the version of the representatives, hundreds of said families are staying in that land since last three generations. They have appealed to the Collector to stall the eviction process and extend the time to at least six months or otherwise they, as self-employed business persons, will lose their bread and & butter for day-to-day maintenance of their family members.

They have demanded a market complex with necessary infrastructures to be constructed by Railways for rehabilitating those affected families to be evicted.

In the absence of the Collector, ADM Rameswar Pradhan has received the memorandum and assured the representatives to act on the matter after due discussion with the Collector. In the meantime, Collector Singh has directed the concerned authorities to initiate a dialogue with the Railway department to initiate necessary action.
