Berhampur:Traffic violators beware the Berhampur police on faster plan to introduced body camera dashboard camera and ANPR Cameras for traffic personnel in the Berhampur city so that the traffic Management will be advanced and better for Improved Transparency.
Keeping in view of the city population and floated public from peripheries ,city size increasing more ever the worse road condition in city every point traffic congestion across the city essentially the move is required by the Police administration aimed at maintaining transparency and at the same time putting a check on unpleasant incidents involving traffic personnel and public at various traffic junctions.
The cameras can help to capture both video and audio for over four hours and will be helpful in sorting out unpleasant situations.
In this regard while discussing with Prof.Satyajit Mohapatra, IT expert, a man of Berhampur he said, the electronic gadgets will come handy to ensure that all the enforcement activities are conducted in a more transparent manner.The Cameras’ are waterproof and have an external memory slot where cards up to 32 GB storage space can be inserted. The cameras having 160 degree viewing angles and HD recording features can also come handy at places where there is low light as they are equipped with Infrared LEDs.
Similarly, Mr.Mohapatra suggests more ANPR camera (Automatic Number Plate Recognition also equally essential to curb traffic violations.
The ANPR cameras can automatically detect those jumping traffic signals and using mobile phones while driving in the process of expanding coverage under the Traffic Regulation Observation Zone (TROZ).
ANPR cameras are now linked to the VAHAN portal and this will help generate e-challans automatically in the name of traffic violators.
An Intelligent Video Management System (IVMS) is linked to the ANPR cameras and this will monitor, detect and record any attempts of vehicle theft on the roads and the above will also be alerted to the on duty officer through SMS and WhatsApp messages and calls, he added.
