The Cyber Safety Rath Travel Across the Berhampur Police District

Berhampur,02/10/23The Berhampur Police on Monday  launched the ‘Cyber Safety Campaign-2023’ in a bid to make people aware of the various facets of internet /Cyber crime.

This campaign embodies our commitment to safeguarding the citizens from the perils of the digital age. Through education and vigilance, we aim to create a safer online environment for all,” IGP,Satyabrata Bhoi said.

It is dedicated to raising awareness and educating citizens about the various facets of cybercrime and, more importantly, how to protect themselves from falling victim to malicious activities on the internet, he added.

The cyber safety advisory brochures and campaign videos displayed in a open field function and thebrouchers provided to the people practical tips and guidelines on how to stay safe online, Bhoi said. During the event, IGP Bhoi launched the campaign’s logo.

Cybercrime encompasses a range of illegal activities committed through digital means, often with the intention to deceive, defraud, or exploit unsuspecting individuals, officials said.

Among others all ASP, DSPs.SDPOs’Inspectors, IICs’of all Police stations, Senior Citizens including Media were present

Speaking to public SP, Berhampur, Dr.Sarvana Vivek, M said that prevention was the panacea to contain ever increasing cyber crimes in the state.

The mobile team will focus upon the emotional and physical exploitation of young women and girl children in the context of fraudsters blackmailing the videos of women and children.

The awareness will be taken up in both offline and online modes to make the youth aware about the allurement of quick & easy money earning being propagated through fake websites, utubes, etc. Extensive use of social media like twitter, facebook, whasapp, instagram, etc will be used to sensitize the public. We are partnering with several financial institutions, civil society groups, media persons and govt departments to function in a cohesive manner to transform this into a mass campaign.

The police act, 1861 (5 of 1861) in its preamble mentions about police to prevent crimes and reduce the opportunities for the commission of crimes.

To prevent theft in the house, a common man locks the gate, doors, almirah, etc. These are simple preventive steps. Likewise these kind of steps should be taken by the public to contain cyber crimes. Of course, the police is always there to act upon stress & duress due to cyber crimes, said Dr.Vivek.

Addressing to huge gathering Divyajyoti Parida, Collector,Ganjam said, with this campaign the innocent people of the hinterland of this district become the victims of the cyber crime.

So, this rath carrying IT experts and empathetic police personnel will move all the blocks in sensitizing students, senior citizens and adolescents.
