Reliance Foundation- IRRI promotes Mechanized Farming in Ganjam

Berhampur:On 02nd July 2023, Reliance Foundation conducted a demonstration programe on Mechanized Farming for Paddy Crop in this Kharif Season. The foundation initiated the process of Direct Seeded Rice (DSR) in Ramachandrapur village of Kukudakhandi block of Ganjam District.
This DSR demonstration was done with the support of Cereal System Initiatives for South Asia (CSISA), project of IRRI, Govt. of Odisha and Kukudakhandi Block Agriculture Division, Ganjam.
The expert from CSISA facilitated the process of DSR in farmer’s field as well as oriented the farmers on benefit of DSR Methods for Paddy Crops.
The expert from CSISA, IRRI project Mr. Pradyumna Srichandan, Research Technician and Mr. Suman Sen, Researcher and Mr. Prasanna Kumar Swain, Block Agriculture Unit showed that DSR required seed used directly by the machine before pre germination and it required less uses of Water from the traditional method, it can solve labour shortage problem and does not require paddy nursery and transplantation into the main puddled field. All total 13 acres With DSR, paddy seeds are sown directly with machine. DSR helps to recharge of ground water than traditional method.

The farmers of Ramachandrapur village Anand Rao, Bhandi Ganesh and Bhandi Bhagban appraise the effort of Reliance Foundation, CSISA and Dept. of Agriculture to initiate this mechanized farming for paddy.
