ENSUING 2024 GENERAL ELECTION AT DOOR STEP

Berhampur:the biennial Thakurani Yatra here from April 4th to Mat 1st ,Six platoons of police force, many police officers,otherppolice sub staffs for smooth  conducting the Festive.Espcially one ASP one ,DSP Inspectors,Lady Officers were deployed and  assigned including Law and Order squad ,,24X7 Police control room with VHF with CCTV arrangement to keep close I -Con on miscreants and anti-socials told by SP Berhampur Dr.Sarvana Vivek.M.

Notably, like earlier days of the festival, on last Wednesday a large number of devotees witnessed the Ghata Parikrama (soul procession) of Maa Budhi Thakurani .

WHERE DO POLICE OFFICERS PATROL AT NIGHT &  WHAT DO THEY LOOK FOR (?).

To ensure public safety, especially for women during Yatra period at night hours and to prevent crimes, the Berhampur  city police has intensify  night patrolling drive which is barely essential because lakhs of the people from city and rural are enjoying  the Thakurani Yatra  based on the opportunity the  anti-social elements are in search to commit crimes.Ofcourse  till date no such crimes yet  reported. But one sure  point is “apprehension Can’t be ruled out”.

Police teams needs to conduct random late night vehicle checking’s and they will not be stationed at one place. They should question those moving suspiciously  in the late hours.

Speaking to Odishabarta SP,Dr Vivek said that  we have drawn sketch of many crime-prone and problematic areas and  were identified across the city.

 “This night domination exercise is mainly focused on sanitising the isolated and outskirts areas where youngsters and criminals gather and resort to drinking and ganja consumption. The main objective of this night patrolling is to identify anti-social elements and counsel them and book cases based on the severity of their actions,” Dr,Vivek added.

Today in the heart of Berhampur Mahanagar Police have 5 major sensitive Police stations i.e. Gosaninuagaon, Baidyanathpur, Berhampur Town,Bada Bazar and Law & Orders so, for the random patrolling  its difficult for their part to cover entire area because of   some police stations limit are big  and they have only one vehicle as a result  its very difficult task for them to cover to prevent crimes, and reduce the opportunities for the commission of crimes

As per information as on date the vehicle Positions of the PSs;

Sl NoPOLICE STATION OFFICE VEHICLE PCR
01GOSANINUAGAON 01 NIL
02BAIDYANATHPUR01NIL

SO IT SHOULD BE IMPLEMENTED FOR THE LARGER INTEREST FOR SAFEST AND SECURITY IT NEEDED.

Notably, the year 2022 – 2023 Population current estimated population of Berhampur Municipal Corporation in 2023 is approximately 490,000. The schedule census of 2021 for Berhampur city is postponed due to covid. The new population census for Brahmapur city will be conducted in current year and same will be updated once its done as told by BeMC authority The current data for Berhampur town are estimated only but all 2011 figures are accurate. They said.

In this regard we had a wide discussion with the Superintendent of Police to resolve the issues but he said “I have no Objection to provide vehicles. But we have ERSS system at Police District Head office and as and when they can use the vehicles.

What is ERSS (?)

It means; Emergency Response Vehicles (ERVs) in  Police district office in quick response to distress calls from citizens. By DIALLING 112  public can access directly to the main control room. This initiative will act as a holistic solution for the people for availing different emergency services. These new vans have been equipped with modern systems such as GIS and GPS. With these additions, assistance will be provided promptly and effectively at the time of emergency situations, mob violence or accidents. So the new ERVs will function like a PCR van  to manage the tasks efficiently in case of emergency only but not the direct under the disposal of the IICs for Night Patrolling (?).
