DHARANA AGAINST LATE NIGHT STONE QUARRYING WORKS

Jajpur:Many  villagers of  Bichakhandi,   Anjira, Chakradharapur   and other villagers under Dharmasala  block   in Jajpur  district continued   their  indefinite  dharana  for the  third    day  on  Monday   at Bichakhandi   against the illegal  stone quarrying works  by  some stonequarry mafias.

Many   quarry mafias are the responsible for the denudation of the green covered hillocks.  They  have been illegally lifting  stones  from the hillocks  without getting  any environmental clearance. We launched an indefinite Dharana  to  protest against the illegal operation of  stone  quarries after the authorities  paid only deaf ears to our plea to close all the illegal quarries”, said Smrutirekha  Pahi Congress leader and the spokesperson of Pradesh Congress Committee .The illegal stone quarry work   is a major polluting industry.. Many streams and waterfalls in our areas are dying due to rampant illegal  stone quarry works , said Banamali Das of Rahalapur
