DRM appeals the public to adopt safe travel practices during rail journey by avoiding risky movements

Rayagada, December 7: A lady passenger was caught in between compartment and platform while de-boarding from 17243 Raygada passenger train at about 08.20hrs at Platform No.4 of Duvvada railway station. The incident took place when the lady was getting down at Duvvada station after travelling from Annavaram.
Assistance was sent to help the injured. The railway staff rushed to site and started rescue operations. She was finally retrieved alive by breaking the platform coping and was shifted to hospital for better treatment by 108 ambulance. The staff from Civil Engineering, Operating, Commercial, RPF, Railway and GRP did a very commendable job by working relentlessly for one and half hour and the young woman was safely taken out by removing 2 blocks of platform No.4 at 9.35 hrs. She was slightly injured.
Divisional Railway Manager(DRM) Shri Anup Satpathy appreciated the rescue team for swift rescue operation to save life of the woman. As an appreciation, a token group cash award and individual citations were announced. DRM appealed to the public to adopt safe travel and avoid risky movements during train journeys.
