Paralakhemundi, (27/10/22):ASHA workers of Gajapati district rushed on strike with a memorandum to knock at district administration for their apathy. Led by Samikhya Gamango President of Gajapati district ASHA workers association rallied at district headquarter Paralakhemundi. With a memorandum they acknowledged how they are in a pitiable condition being on low literacy exploited by higher authorities. Few days back it has been rumored that ASHA workers bargaining from patients on referral cases. But ro place their honesty they appealed that they have been threatened by higher authorities to bargain from patients for referral cases. Particularly while admitting maternity care patients their (ASHA) signatures required. So for that signature they are asked to bargain ₹ 3000 to 5000 from patients. If they cannot collect such amount higher authorities counter signatures denied. Moreso rather they are threatened to refer those cases to Brahmapur or Vishakhapattanam. For which patients facing financial crisis too. Rather those higher authorities showed their honesty instead instructing to bargain from patients & even getting threatening too. So on a mass rally ASHA workers appealed to district administration to take up their case seriously as on grassroort level they mediate for those patients with just pouch of travel expenses from authorities. Let ASHA worker should not be defamed where redtapism of higher authorities who threatening us high bargain to cover their honesty. They appeal before administration neither patients to bear over cost where through Niramaya & other schemes benefits too for patients nor henceforth they must ensure their holistic services to help patients without fear.
