Cuttack (Oct 23 ‘2022) : He was close to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. He was arrested , tortured and murdered by British India Police while he was in their detention. On his 79th Martyrdom day or Balidan Diwas a prayer meet was organised by Smt. Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT). Chairman SNSMT Shri. Suparno Satpathy while addressing the attendees said “Since the nation is celebrating Amrit Mahostav in 2022, it is imperative to remember all those who sacrificed for the freedom of India. This day in 1943 the British India Police had handed back his dead body which had signs of severe torture and the reason given in the Post-mortem report was ‘death due to unknown reasons’. Till date like the death of Netaji is a mystery, so is that of Bhagabati Babu. At the age of 35, his supreme sacrifice to safeguard the plans of Netaji and INA must never be forgotten. This too mustn’t be forgotten that the major contributor for India’s freedom was made by Netaji & INA”
A few attended the prayer meet in-person. Several took to social media platforms to pay homage to legendary Bhagabati Charan Panigrahi.
