The four-week long Girl Empowerment Mission 2022 (GEM) concluded with a grand closing ceremony at NTPC kaniha on 14 June.

Talcher:Shri K Srinivasa Rao, Executive Director, NTPC Kaniha spoke at the closing ceremony, expressing his optimism that the GEM workshop will stand to boost empowerment of girls in the region. He praised the team for their outstanding efforts in making the event a huge success and thanked the entire Kaniha fraternity and the District Administration for their support.

“The aim of the program was to provide the children with the opportunities they might otherwise not receive”, he said, adding that during the course of the workshop, the girl students have not only been exposed to academics but also yoga, self-defence, fine arts and other life skills.

The Girl Empowerment Mission workshop is a flagship CSR initiative of NTPC that is empowering young girls to realize their dreams and aspirations. Around 110 girls students from 22 government primary schools near NTPC Kaniha were selected for the workshop at NTPC Kaniha.

The Chief Guests, Shri Ashim Kumar Goswami, RED ER-II and Smt Manjari Goswami, President Vasudha Mahila Mandal appreciated NTPC Kaniha’s efforts to make the GEM-2022 workshop a success. Shri Goswami stressed that the program aims to groom young girls and is the first step for the young girls to turn their dreams to reality.

The main event of the closing night was the colourful cultural programme by GEM students featuring song and dance performances, Display of yoga asanas and self defence techniques, and skits on girl empowerment.

The participating girls were also presented with certificates and mementoes by the dignitaries present. Smt Swarnlatha Rao, President Tanvi Sangam, all GMs and senior officials, along with office bearers, members of union and association members, parents and guardians of the children were present at the event.
