Koraput: Shabar Shrikshetra 3 chariots will roll in Baddanda, Koraput. For two long years, the procession was symbolically celebrated inside the enclosure due to a two-year curfew. This year, however, Chaturdhamurthy will come down to Baddanda, when he sees the devotees. The decision was taken at a Srigundicha preparatory meeting chaired by Koraput district commissioner Abdal M. Akhtar. During the visit to Srigundicha on July 1, preparations will be made three times in advance.
The decision was taken after discussions with departmental officials, members of the temple management board and intellectuals, the district commissioner said. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Koraput Shabar Shrikshetra procession, which began in 1922. So this year’s rath yatra carries a special significance. Tribal village heroes patrol the chariot on the ground. According to the district commissioner, three tribal servants from three corners of the district will be given the responsibility of guarding the chariot in the third year of this year. Discussions focused on how to carry out the peace procession from Rath Yatra to Bahuda in a peaceful manner and how the department will be responsible, as well as cleanliness, drinking water, temporary funds, electricity services and more.
The meeting focused on how to complete all the tasks from the full moon to the Niladri BJP. Today’s meeting was attended by all the members, including the Superintendent of Police, Deputy District Commissioner, District Culture Officer, Municipal Executive Officer, Municipal Chairman, Jagannath Temple Management Committee Secretary Dr Jagbandhu Samal.
