X-EMINENCE 2020 – CORPORATE GOVERNANCE & COGNITIVE INTELLIGENCE

Bhubaneswar: EMBA, the Executive MBA Program of XIMB, organized its flagship event and annual business conclave, ‘X-Eminence 2020’ on the 1st of March, 2020. The theme of the discussion was ‘Corporate Governance & Cognitive Intelligence.’

The goal of the conclave was to gain perspective on how the business world is evolving and how supply chain management is changing to adapt to Industry 4.0

Ms. Sonal Raghuvanshi (Head – Alliance & Program Management, Alliance & Ventures, Technology & New Materials Business, Tata Steel Limited), Mr. Jay Munshi (Digital Transformation Leader), Dr. Chandan Kumar Sadangi (Director, Local Fund Audit, Finance Department, Government of Odisha), Mr. Devaraj Ghatualo (Solution Architect, Tata Consultancy Services), Mr. Biju Joseph Dominic (CEO & Co-Founder, Final Mile Consulting), Mr. Pulin Kumar Sahu (DGM Corporate Affairs at Jindal Steel & Power Limited), Mr. Sekhar Krishnan (Senior Vice President & Company Secretary, The Chatterjee Group), and Mr. Somnath Mitra (Digital Transformation Advisor) were the esteemed speakers for the occasion.

The Honourable Chief Guest for the event was Shri Tusherkanti Behera, Minister of State (Independent Charge) of Odisha, who inspired the audience with his wise words. The Guest of Honour, Dr. Chandan Sadangi, encouraged and motivated the students.

The first session of the day was on corporate governance and began with an introduction to the subject by Professor Santosh Kumar Prusty. Ms. Sonal Raghuvanshi was the first speaker, and spoke to the students regarding the importance of strategy in a VUCA world, and how one must be responsive to any changes in the corporate environment to ensure success in the business world. She also gave us useful insights into Tata Steel and the strategy it employs.

The second speaker for the day was Mr. Sekhar Krishnan, who enlightened the students about how corporate governance has changed, and how we need to look at a paradigm shift in corporate governance. The next speaker for the day was Mr. Pulin Kumar Sahu, and he talked about the importance of ethics in the business system, and the essential roles that stakeholders play in business

The first session of the day ended with a Q&A session, with insightful questions from the students.

The second session of the day focused on cognitive intelligence with an array of impressive speakers.

Mr. Somnath Mitra, Digital Transformation Advisor, Former Senior VP, YES Bank spoke about how Cognitive Intelligence, Technology and the Advent of 6G would change business faster than ever. Immersive technology would not only allow businesses to have a physical presence but also leverage the virtual environment as well.

Mr. Jay Munshi compared cognitive intelligence & AI with the human effort and how AI is overcoming the paranoia around it to find its place in today’s business environment.

Mr. Devaraj Ghatualo spoke about how cognitive intelligence has revolutionized standards of living and transformed the way businesses work.

Mr. Biju Joseph Dominic, CEO & Co-founder, Final Mile Consulting spoke of his disagreement with the direction cognitive intelligence is taking today and emphasized that incorporating human emotions can be the only way forward.

Once the panel members were done with their speeches, it was time for the Q&A session, where the students asked insightful, inquisitive questions. The event came to an end with the vote of thanks and was an immense success.
