Collected Tax from Weekly Market yet to on Revenue Account

Paralakhemundi-At Chandiput weekly market held where 39 panchayats people depends on such big market. From Paniganda, Adava, Sikulipadar, Birikote Raipanka, Luhagudi, Chandragiri, Chandiput though such weekly market is being held still Chandiput is a renouned weekly market on every Saturday. Livestock like cattles, chicks, goats are sold by nearest Ganjam district business men. So tender called for weekly market where on 2020 for 6 months tender given for 7 lakhs rupees & deposited on government account. On 2021-22 too tender called & entrusted in the name of Ranjan Mali for 18 lakh 96 thousands rupees. As per government rules they have to deposit half of amount but Ranjan deposited 1 lakh rupees only. Later when people retorted he deposited 6 lakhs. But due to lock down & shut down  tax not collected. For which he did not deposit rest 12 lakhs 96 thousands rupees. From panchayat notice issued to him. But Ranjan said due to COVID-19 he is unable to collect tax. For each cow 40,goat 40,chicks 5 are paid.Later on tax hiked to 50 each for cow & goat, for chicks 10.Due to down on business he could not collect sufficient amount. While interacted with GPEO, he said except lock down & shut down time on rest time he will be given notice to pay balance amount. Or else legal action will be taken against him.
