BJD’S RADHA BINOD SAMANTARAY BECAME THE KORAPUT ZILLA PARISHAD VICE-CHAIRMAN

Koraput:Elections for the Zilla Parishad vice-president were held at the local Sadbhavana House.  DRDA PD Hemkant Say was in charge of the Election Commission while the elected Zilla Parishad members of the BJD and the Congress were present.  The election was held amid tight security.  Radha Binod Samantaray was the BJD’s vice-presidential candidate, with 14 votes, while Congress-backed candidate Mihir Kuludip got 12 votes.  Radha Binod Samantaraya, who came to politics from teaching, is a highly educated and well-known straight man.  Mr Samantaray said he would focus on strengthening the district’s education system in the coming days.  Several BJD and Congress workers, including district BJD president Ishwar Chandra Panigrahi and Koraput MLA Raghuram Padal, were present.  After the victory, a procession from the BJP left the Sadbhavana assembly hall and marched around the city.
