Trio arrested in Connection of Property Fraud in Berhampur City

Berhampur: The Berhampur Town Police have busted a three-member gang in connection with property fraud. The accused have been identified as Bharati Patra W/O Late Arun Kumar Mohanty of Gandhi Nagar, 8th line,Berhampur,Smt. Jayanti Jena W/O Late Abhimanyu Jena of Canal Sahi, Bijipur and N.Chiranjibi Rao @ SrinuS/O N.Ananda Rao of ReddikaSahi , Lanjipalli,under B.N.Pur police limit.
Police statement reveal that,The case was registered on the written complaint of Kamalendu Patro regarding fraudulent transfer of the landed property recorded in the name of his father Late Laxmikanta Patro and cousin brother Lalmohan Patro measuring A 0.682 Decimals of land in Mouza Nilakanthanagar for Rs 1.5 Crores by one Gopinath Panigrahi impersonating himself as W.V Ramarao in the name of Jayanti Jena on 13.07.2021. The above noted persons have conspired amongst themselves and manufactured fake Adhar Card of W.V.Ramarao who has expired in the year 1994. The said Adhar Card was produced as genuine in the office of Sub-Registrar Berhampur during execution of RSD. One of the conspiratorsPurnachandra Biswal and the impersonator Gopinath Panigrahi were arrested on 25.01.2022 and 26.01.2022 respectively. The above three accused persons have absconded soon after the arrest of GopinathPanigrahi and taken shelter at Thane, Maharastra.
A team of officer Berhampur Town PS apprehended the above three accused persons with the assistance of Kashimira PS staff of Thane Police District on 21.03.2022 and were produced in the court of JMFC, Court No-7, Thane, Maharastra and were brought on two days transit remand. They are being produced in the court of SDJM Berhampur. Investigation is in progress.
