STF CRACKDOWN AGAINST NARCOTICS TRADE IN CUTTACK

Bhubaneswar:In a massive crackdown against narcotics trade in Odisha, the Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch has arrested several persons after conducting raids across the State.
As per the direction by the DIG,Mr JN Pankaj, a special drive had been conducted last couple of days..
Saturday on the basis of reliable information, STF has detected a case of illegal trade of Narcotic Drugs at Tangi area under Cuttack district, as result of which two accused persons identified as Budhia alias Ananta Sahoo,of Rental Colony Bhubaneswar and Diptiranjan Barik alias Illu, resident of Rental Colony Bhubaneswar were rounded up.
Brown Sugar weighing 56gmsand one 9 MM automatic pistol, Magazine with 4 rounds of live ammunitions with other incriminating articles were seized from their possession. A case has been registered at Tangi Police Station for necessary legal action. This refers to Tangi Police Station Case No.43 dated 29.02.2020 U/s. 21(b) NDPS Act, 1985/25 (1)(a)Arms Act.
According to Mr Pankaj during the year 2020 till date, STF has conducted raids at various places in Cuttack, Puri, Balasore, Angul, khurda, Pipili, Dhenkanal, Bhubaneswar and Bhadrak area and detected 13 (Thirteen) cases against drug peddlers. STF has arrested 26 accused persons and also seized a total of 1 Kg 335 grams of Brown Sugar, OPIUM (Aphima) 326.45 grams, Cash Rs.13,21,000/- plus, One Automatic Pistol, Magazine, 4 rounds of live ammunitions, One Maruti Car, Eight Motor Bikes, bank accounts, and other incriminating materials.
