Trickey:Vanity Bag Containing Gold Ornaments Theft

Berhampur:A Vanity bag containing valuables more than Rs 1 lakh was stolen from a marriage function was going on at Nandakee Kalyan Mandap, Dharmanagar, Berhampur.
Berhampur Town police have registered a case of theft and started investigation by IIC Suresh Tripathy.
According to IIC,Tripathy, victim Swatirani Chaudhury(28) W/O Asish Kumar Mishra of Govind Vihar 4th lane, Lochapada, Berhampur In the intervening night of 11/12 Dec 2021 from 00.45 AM to 1:00 AM a marriage function was going on at Nandakee Kalyan Mandap, Dharmanagar, Berhampur. The complainant was carrying her green colour vanity bag containing gold, silver ornaments and documents.
Speaking to scribe IIC Tripathy told,after preliminary investigation, Due to her engagement, she kept the vanity bag containing the valuables on a chair near the marriage Altar. Taking advantage of her engagement, the accused cleverly committed theft of said vanity bag containing the valuables. Basing on the CCTV footage the accused was identified as Banoj Kumar Dalai @ Gitu (44) S/O Late Trilochan Dalai of Baikuntha Nagar 1st lane, PS-B.N.Pur, Dist-Ganjam and apprehended. The stolen articles Gold ornaments weighing 42.81 gms, Silver ornaments weighing 98 gms, and other documents were seized. The accused is being forwarded to the Court.
Police registered a case under section 379 of the IPC and have started further investigation. In the complaint the victim has claimed that the Vanity bag was having cash and valuables.
