People’s Collectives Submitted Children’s Expressions on Education to MLAs

Bhubaneswar: 10th December-On International Human Rights Day, representatives of 18 districts of the state interacted with MLAs and submitted children’s feelings about what they were doing during the school closure, what school closure impacted them the most, what they want in their schools as they reopen and many more.
Led by Odisha Shramajeebee Mancha and Mahila Shramajeebee Mancha, Odisha, representatives of people’s collectives from Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Sundergarh, Kandhamal, Boudh, Balangir, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Nayagarh and urban village of Bhubaneswar from Khurda district took part in this drive.
They met Hon’ble MLAs from different political parties namely Narasingha Mishra, Leader of Opposition Tara Prasad Bahinipati, Prakash Soren, Santosh Singh Saluja, Pritam Padhi, Kusum Tete, Nauri Naik, Bhabani Shankar Bhoi and submitted evidence collected from over 1 lakh children during its 25 days-long education campaign Gunjaran-Story on wheels and urged them to renew their commitments to ensure all children should go to schools and learn in a supportive environment.
During the campaign, members of these collectives travelled over 4000-kilometres covering 25 districts of the state using 3-km long cotton fabrics, one of the largest ever chains of clothes organized for the cause of education.
Later, they staged demonstrations of these fabrics in the Master Canteen Square to draw the attention of stakeholders including the government on the importance of making education a reality for children.“Whatever children have expressed through their arts, drawings and symbolic response, will be sent to the Hon’ble Governor and the Chief Minister, urging them to make apposite efforts to ensure children’s Right to Education in a post-covid classroom,”said Mr Anjan Pradhan, Convener of Odisha Shramajeebee Mancha.
