Justice to Tribals ;Dandakaranya Mountain Development Council

Koraput, Oct 10:The first general council meeting of the Dandakaranya Mountain Development Council has been held at the town hall in Koraput. The meeting, chaired by Council President Jairam Pangi, was attended by many dignitaries from Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh and undivided Koraput districts.
The issue of forming a special penal state or an autonomous region was discussed. At the first meeting in Koraput, the council made a 24-point demand. Leaders from different parts of Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, bordering Koraput district, today rallied in Koraput to unite to form a regional autonomous region in a united voice against the negligence of the three states towards tribal upliftment.
Going beyond the political parties, these leaders are determined to bring their own power to power. Andhra Pradesh’s Adivasi Morcha president Gangadhar Swamy said the border dispute in Kotia and other border areas could be resolved through tribal talks. Senior Chhattisgarh leader and former minister Arvind Netam, on the other hand, complained that the state government did not take it seriously while there was a provision in the constitution for the betterment of the tribals. The Dandakaranya Mountain Development Council, set up today for regional development, will support the positive steps of all the governments and act as a pressure group to guide the government in the right direction, said Jayaram Pangi, chairman and former MP of the council. According to Gadadhar Parida, the host of our Kotia organization and a former district magistrate of Koraput, the forum will include pressure on the state governments to resolve inter-state border disputes like Kotia as residents of the entire penal region are involved. .
