BJD LEADER MINAKSHI SETS HERSELF ON FIRE OUTSIDE SP OFFICE IN BERHAMPUR (!).

Berhampur,18/02/20: Six days ago tension gripped high in Berhampur after a local BJD leader Minakshi Mishra set herself on fire in front of the SP office.
Minakshi Mishra The BJD leader, who sustained about 60 per cent burns, was rushed to MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.
On Jan 28th a group clash had ensued in front of the House of the BJD leader on the issue of parking of vehicles. Following the incident, police had arrested five youths, including her son Raja.
Protesting against the arrest of her son Raja Minakshi had come to meet the SP at his office at around 1 pm. Since SP was not in the office, she met the additional SP and she received cordial behaviour from ASP.
When she came out from the office of ASP after her meeting, she set herself on fire by pouring kerosene on her body. Following the incident, police rushed her to the MKCG Medical College.
Since there is no burn unit in the medical college, she was later shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital on foot war basis.
According to report, Minakshi was protesting against the arrest of her son Raja Mishra outside the Berhampur SP’s office.
Police had earlier arrested Raja over thrashing a boy with a cricket bat. Demanding the release of her son, she suddenly poured kerosene on self and immolated Self.
Minakshi told to scribes “In the CCTV footage, it is clearly shown that my son was brutally thrashed by a group of people with a cricket bat in broad daylight on January 28. On what grounds, the police arrested my son, who is completely innocent” (?).
In this context, Mr Pinak Mishra, SP, Berhampur said, she came to my office with some of her supporters to present her grievances and I am not in my office. However, getting the message I told my Additional SP to receive her grievance. But I am surprised under what circumstances and situation she took such steps and set herself on fire by pouring kerosene on her body (!).
Two police officers were deployed at Cuttack for her care and the investigation was in progress. Today she was under treatment in ventilator at SCB and sources said she was responding.
