Rayagada, February 17: Flagging off a Kshyamata Express near PA-ITDA residence chowk at Rayagada, a van with medical & rehabilitation professionals from Institute of Health Sciences, Bhubaneswar, which will traverse around fifty gram panchayats of the district for a fortnight to conduct Bhima Bhoi Samyarthya Sibira Abhiyan(BBSA) camps identifying and clinically assessing to provide ID cards, aids & appliances and other relevant services to the persons with disabilities(PwDs), Sri Pramod Kumar Behera, District Collector, Rayagada addressed himself as an associate of Pwds and requested all present during the occasion to be dibyang-friendly.
Behera also inaugurated the donation camp sponsored by Banshidhar & Ila Panda Foundation(BIPF) at Therubali. “The tricycle will change my life for ever”, said Sri.Trinath Kousalya, a socially excluded person with 80% locomotor disability, recipient of the battery driven tricycle from IMFA Ltd, Therubali under it’s CSR initiative. IMFA Ltd & BIPF have extended it’s reaching hand to three PwDs by way of financial assistance to the tune of Rs.10000/- each for enhancement of their existing business apart from the tri-cycles. The beneficiaries were selected through a survey and concurrent evaluation. The function was attended by Sri.Tapas Bhoi, BDO,Kolonara , Sri.Adipati Kahnar, DSSO, Rayagada, Sri.Siba Gopal, ABDO, Kolnara & Sr. Executives of IMFA alongwith the family members of the recipients.
Recently during a workshop organised by Sakhyam, where around 200 PwDs assembled to discuss their issues, Behera felicitated their leaders and committed to act upon the issues raised during the workshop. Though the Rayagada district was awarded for its good work in rehabilitating and providing facilities to the PwDs, Behera took the process several steps forward.
During all the decentralised grievance redressal at the block levels, which Behera hardly misses, top most priority is given to the PwD issues. He even comes out of the dais and the grievance room to pose with PwDs for photographs. This has not only boosted the morale of the dibyangs or differently abled but also instilled a confidence among this unreached lot. Behera has thus emerged as a good Samaritan for those who are almost left out in the society.
