Illegal Gutka Manufacturing Unit Busted in Berhampur

BERHAMPUR: Tightening the noose around the necks of the illegal tobacco producers in the ‘Silk City’, Berhampur Bada Bazar Police Wednesday at 11.45 PM, lead by dynamic young Tahasildar Sipak Kumar Patro, OAS, , Berhampur and officers from Bada Bazar Police station busted a illegal GUthka manufacturing unit in Berhampur city.
During the raid cops found that the adulteration of Gutka with others brand and processing the tobacco without the tobacco products and packing those in duplicate which foils of branded companies to send to the market. This is seriously an offence under the trade mark copyright act (?).
On 03.08.2021 at 11.55 P.M in receipt of the complaint from Mr. the above noted Case was registered on receipt of the information of Tahasildar, Berhampur regarding detection of One illegally run manufacturing unit of banned Gutkha product at Kalupatro Street and our police team recovered of 160 packets of banned Gutkha products/ Raw materials .
During investigation conducted so far the involvement of above noted accused persons were established. One vehicle bearing Regd, No-OD 07C-9431 loaded with 29 Jumbo sizes packets containing Gutkha products and Pan Masala was seized at Borigaon during transit on 04.08.2021. It is ascertained that Naru @ Narayana Sahu of Kalupatro Street with assistance of the above noted persons was illegally running the above Unit violating the Food Safety Norms and without any authority. The above noted accused persons were arrested on 04.08.2021 at 03.00 P.M and being forwarded to Court. Requisitions given to different Banks for ascertaining the amount accumulated by the accused persons from this illegal business and to take follow up action. Investigation of the Case is continuing.
The accused persons identified as Rintu Kumar Sahu(34) of Kalupatro Sahi, Berhampur, Arjuna Sahu(49) of new Kalupatro Sahi, Berhampur,Budha Sahu(47) of village Borigaon, PS-Berhampur Sadar, Chandra Bhavan Patel(32) Pratapgarh District of U.P, Ram Asish(33) Jonpur District of UP, and Sibaram Behera(42) of Laxminrusingha Sahi, 5th Lane, PS-Badabazar.
During the raid police have seized (1) No-OD 07AC 4428, (2) OD 02AL 9622 ,(3) OR 07N 3426 (4) OD 07C-9431, One Gutkha manufacturing machine, and 189 packets of Gutkha,(Karuna Chapa Khaini, Safal Pan Masala, Safal Pan Masala Pati, Mix Masala, Pan masala-555, Deluxe mix Pan Masala, K.K Pan Masala, Masti Pan Masala )and other Raw materials from the possession of accused persons.
