Leopard skin Poacher apprehended by Odisha STF Specialized Wing

Bhubaneswar:On the basis of reliable information, STF team conducted a raid near village Kapasira under Manmunda PS under Boudh district about a deal of sale of Leopard skin by wild life criminals on Wednesday i.e. on 21.07.2021, as a result of which one accused person designated as poacher identified as Hara Rana S/o Lt Lakeswar Rana of village Ghuchingi PS. Kantamal, Dist Boudh was apprehended.
During search One Leopard skin, One country made SBML Gun, 12 Nos Big size Sisa ball ammunitions, 17 nos sisa , 25 nos small empty case, two nos plastic container containing Black gun powder and other incriminating materials were seized from his possession.
The accused person could not produce any valid authority in support of possession of such leopard skin , arms and ammunitions, for which he has been arrested. In this connection STF PS Case No.25 dated 21.07.2021 U/s. 379/411/120(B) IPC r/w.Sec.25 Arms Act r/w. 51 of Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 was registered. The seized leopard skin will be sent to Wild Life Institute of India, Deharadun for chemical examination. Investigation is on.
During last one year, Special driver against the wildlife criminals/poachers have been launched, STF has seized as many as 15 nos Leopard skin, 09 nos Elephant Tusk, 02 deer skin, 03 live pangolin and 10 kg pangolin scales and arrested 28 wild life criminals.
STF is the specialized wing of Odisha Police to curb the organized crime in the State. Wild life crimes remain the one of the focus area of STF and STF will continue its drive against the wild life crime and criminals
