Rayagada Collector felicitates farmer during NABARD’s 40th Foundation Day Celebration

Rayagada, July 20: As a part of 40th Foundation Day celebration and to commemorate its 40 years of service to Nation in the field of agriculture and rural development, NABARD Odisha Regional Office, Bhubaneswar held an august function last Tuesday at Raj Bhawan with Hon’ble Governor of Odisha as the Chief Guest. The programme was also attended by Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary, Finance Department, Govt of Odisha and Chief General Manager, NABARD. Due to Covid restrictions, the programme was virtually connected to all the districts from Raj Bhawan premises.
The function was attended by Shri Saroj Kumar Mishra, Collector, Rayagada as the chief guest for the Rayagada district who was welcomed to the function. Amongst the other dignitaries present were Shri Dhirendra Bihari, LDM and Shri Santosh Kumar Samal, DDM, NABARD. On this occasion, during the function, Shri Nilakantha Bania, a farmer who had played a significant role in NABARD’s watershed programme, was felicitated by Shri Mishra. Bania was among 30 such individuals who were facilitated from each of the districts of Odisha. During the programme, Shri Mishra also appreciated the efforts being taken by NABARD in various areas of the district like strengthening the rural infrastructure, providing sustainable livelihood for the SHG members, providing potable water for irrigation, promotion of Farmers Producers Companies to name a few. He expressed his good wishes to NABARD on this journey of 40 years and hoped to many more milestones to be achieved in the coming years.
