Training on Diabetes comes to an end; Doctors get Certificates

Berhampur dated 10th July 2021: The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI) has been training doctors across India for skill enhancement in management of various non communicable and lifestyle disorders. CCEBDM (Certificate Course for Evidence Based Diabetes Management) is one such yearlong course, where doctors are updated about various perspectives of Diabetes, its complications and management. Since its inception in 2010,this course has trained more than 12000 doctors across India. This year the 6th cycle of CCEBDM was held across 70 centresZ from India. Amongst total of 4 centres from Odisha, Berhampur was the only centre for Doctors from South Odisha. Dr Sunil Kumar Kota, Consultant Endocrinologist from Diabetes & Endocare Clinic, Berhampur was appointed by PHFI as the regional trainer for the 6th cycle, which got concluded this year.
This year there were 17 doctors from South Odisha who got trained under the guidance of Dr Sunil Kota at Berhampur. After 12 monthly sessions on different aspects of Diabetes followed by an online examination this year, the participating doctors were entitled to receive a certificate. In the briefly organized valedictory meet, Dr Siddeshwar B Bondar, Commissioner, Berhampur Municipality Corporation said the lifestyle disorders including Diabetes & Hypertension have to be properly dealt with life style modifications and medications if required since very beginning to keep complications at bay. He said during these COVID-19 times, Diabetes patients are not only more susceptible for infection but also are more prone to develop complications, require hospitalization, face mortality followed by several long term complications post recovery. He called upon people to periodically monitor blood sugar, blood pressure, cholesterol values and timely screen for any Diabetes related complications.
Dr Bondar thanked Dr Sunil Kota for training doctors of South Odisha from 2015 itself leading to training of 4 batch of doctors till date. He further requested Dr Kota to carry on with various social awareness campaigns. At last he handed over the certificates to few doctors including Dr E Padmanabha Rao, Dr Sujit Swain, Dr Shaikh Taheruddin, Dr Sarada Prasanna Dash, Dr Chitta Ranjan Pradhan, Dr Rashmi Pradhan who underwent training followed by a scroll of honour from PHFI to the regional faculty to Dr Kota
