OTDC INTRODUCED ‘PITHA ON WHEEL’ DURING RAJA

Bhubaneswsar: The Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC), in collaboration with mothers in Mission Shakti, on Sunday launched “Pitha On Wheel” programme on the occasion of “Raja Festival,” a popular cultural festival of Odisha.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the employees of the OTDC for this unique initiative and offered his best wishes to the daughters and mothers of Odisha. Naveen urged them to observe Raja Festival in their houses by observing Covid-appropriate behaviour.

The OTDC has planned to provide various kinds of Pitha (delicious Odia sweets) to people in Bhubaneswar, Sambalpur and Cuttack through “Pitha On Wheel” programme. The Chief Minister, in a message, said Raja is a mass cultural festival of Odisha. It is a tradition to express respect for the greatness of earth, nature and women. It is also a festival to celebrate the priceless contribution of women to the society.

The “Pitha On Wheel” programme was launched by OTDC Chairperson Shreemayee Mishra at a function here. OTDC Managing Director Sachin R Yadav said the Pitha would be made available at six places in Bhubanesswar from 7 am to 11 am during the festival period. Special counters have been opened at Pantha Nivas in Sambalpur and Cuttack for the sale of Pitha.

Last year, the OTDC had raked in Rs 11 lakh by selling Pitha during the Raja festival
