DGP, Odihsa Visits Maoists affected areas appeals Covid Positive Maos’wise to Surrender with assurance all Support

Nabarangpur/Malkangiri/Koraput:Odisha Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay on Saturday appealed to the Left Wing Extremists (LWE), who have infected with Covid-19, to surrender before police for early treatment.The DGP assured them of all necessary medical assistance with empathy and compensation as per government protocols. DGP, was accompanied by Director of Intelligence Radha Krishna Sharma, Superintendent of Police and senior BSF officials, visited Motu, MV 88, Kaleru bridge in Malkangiri district and reviewed the anti-naxal operations in the regions. 

During his visit to various Maoists-affected regions in Malkangiri, Koraput and Nabarangpur districts, the top police officer said that government would bear the cost of treatment of the infected rebels if they surrender at the earliest.

He discussed with the officials on duty on the border check points regarding enforcement of Covid guidelines for the migrants who are coming to Odisha from Andhra and Telangana.

The DGP also stressed on setting up of more camps for security forces to expedite the operations against the rebels.

Earlier in the day, the DGP visited Koraput district and discussed with the local SP on the Covid-19 situation and anti-Maoist operations. Later in the day, he also visited Nabarangpur district and directed the police officials to enforce the lockdown protocols laid down by the State government to break the chain of Coronavirus which is on a steady rise in the State.

Notably, Odisha government has made 14-day mandatory quarantine for those who are coming to the State from Andhra and Telangana following detection of virulent variant of the virus in the neighbouring states.
