JSPL FOUNDATION OBSERVES NATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY

Angul,Jan 24th: On the occasion of National Girl Child Day, JSPL Foundation,  the CSR Arm of Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) has organised a series of programmes at its periphery villages in Angul district.

With an object to sensitive  the community on the gender equity and criticality of  a girl child for very survival of the Society , an awareness camp on Girl child’s education, health, nutrition, personal hygiene, adolescent health care & prevailing   paradigm on girl child , Evils of  child marriage, domestic violence, atrocities against women, rights of girls & women, etc was conducted  at Turanga, Angan Wadi Center in Banarpal Block. This camp was attended by Members of women Self Help Groups, Gaon Kalyana Samiti, Mothers Committee, Pregnant Women, Lactating Mothers and Adolescent girls.

On this occasion, several interesting games and theme based Quiz competitions were conducted to equip  the girl and women to meet the everyday challenges in their lives.

ICDS team members Ms. Lily Dash, Ms. Anita Das, Ms. Baijayanti with active support of Ms. Jhilli Khatua of JSPL CSR and team members conducted the programme. An oath taking session on individual role and responsibilities to take care of girl child was also administered by Mrs. Puspa Satapathy, GM-CSR of JSPL.

 In her message on the National Girl Child Day , Smt Shallu Jindal ,the Chairperson of JSPL Foundation said ”   We  are fully  committed  to end the inequality and discrimination against each girl child in India and empower them with good health ,education , life skill and equal opportunities ”  Girls in our Motherland are revered as ‘Shakti ‘and let us take a pledge to nourish and nurture them to build a better and stronger Tomorrow ” .

Similarly, a self-defence training programme for girls was also organised at DAV Savitri Jindal High School, R&R colony, Badamahitala. Trainer Mr. Basudev Sahu from International Karate Association, Angul Branch imparted the training on  several easy techniques of self-defence for girls . Principal of the School Mr. Fakir Mohan Sahu along with other teachers educated the students about the importance of this day. Mr. Tapas Mohanty of JSPL-CSR coordinated the programme.

It is noteworthy to mention that JSPL Foundation’s pilot project to address the adolescent anaemia among girl child widely known as “Kishori Express” is tirelessly working in association with ICDS, NHM, District Administration and so far this mission has brought out  thousands of adolescent  girls out of anaemia  from Banarpal,  Chhendipada  and Angul blocks in Angul district.
