VILLAGE LEVEL CAREER COUNSELING AT JK PAPERS

Rayagada: SPARSH Social Foundation, under CSR initiatives of JK Paper Mills organized a 3 day career counselling drive in collaboration with IL&FS Skills to induce the youth from peripheral villages with the job assured skill training and placement program.  The counselling sessions were organized at Madanpur, Revatiguda and Gadbaguda villages. The event constituted- General briefing session on- aim of life, importance of education, significance of skill training, career path, employment opportunities, career prospective plans, livelihood goal setting. Special emphasis was laid on job linked vocational training schemes of Govt of India, Govt of Odisha for various learned segments and briefing on placement linked skill training program- eligibility, course duration, facilities and employment opportunities in different centers of IL&FS across Odisha.


Sri Prafulla Kumar Dhal of SPARSH emphasized on the initiatives taken by SPARSH in community development. He stressed on the role of youth in the economic growth of nation and the gap between no. of educated youths and the jobs. He also encouraged the youths to be leaders and eco entrepreneurs as this sector was untapped and there was huge scope for sustainable employment in this sector. Mr. Shantanu Sarangi, Regional head- Odisha, IL&FS headed the technical session. He emphasized on the placement linked skill training programs and shared the training modules that were being imparted at various centres across Odisha. Ms. Kamini Singh, Program Officer, SPARSH laid stress on sustainable career opportunities and motivated the youth to explore diverse career options in various fields and not stick to the traditional career routes.


358 persons attended the program and learned about various job linked training program across Odisha. 47 youth (between the age group of 18-30; who are out  of formal education system and currently unemployed) registered for placement linked training program in various trades like SMO, Electrician, Welding, Solar, Retail, Hospitality,  etc. “This effort of JK Papers will certainly complement the Skill India Programme of GOI”, said Sri Bijay Mishra, an agri-entrepreneur and mentor of several sports persons of national and international standard.
