Similipal Sanctuary Fire under Control, Chief Minister

Bhubaneswar: Fire in Similipal National Park is under control, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said here on Wednesday.
Reviewing the fire situation in Similipal sanctuary at a high level meeting, Naveen said Similipal is not only a priceless property of Odisha or India, but also of the whole world. He directed the officials to remain alert and take preventive measures for its security. Official sources said more than 1,000 persons, 40 vehicles and several blowers were deployed to douse the forest fire.
Additional Chief Secretary Mona Sharma said fire in Similipal is under control. No loss of life has been reported. Standard Operating Procedure has been issued to control the fire. She said no big tree was affected by the fire. The DFO has been instructed to apprise the State Government and the District Collector about fire alert in evening daily.
The Additional Chief Secretary said the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Wildlife, is present at the spot and keeping a vigil on the situation.
