9 Arrested by Berhampur Police For Duping Crores from Job Aspirants

Berhampur: A gang involved in duping crores of rupees from job aspirant gullible youths was busted by Berhampur Police. This gang has conned several job aspirants on the pretext of providing them government jobs. Police have arrested nine persons involved in the job racket.

The members of the gang were active in different districts of Odisha to target the gullible job seekers.

According to police sources, the accused were providing fake appointment letters to targeted unemployed youths.

Investigation revealed that transactions worth around Rs 2 Crore have been carried out through a bank account linked to the gang.

They were usually handing over fake job offer letters for clerical and peon posts in government offices and corporate houses.

After realizing that they had been conned, when some of the victims approached the accused asking refund, they were allegedly beaten up by bouncers engaged by the fraudsters.

A detain investigation was taken up following the registration of a case at Baidyanathpur Police Station in Berhampur. This investigation led to the arrest of nine members of the gang.

Police have seized fake appointment letters, stamp pads, rubber stamps and several other incriminating materials from the possession of the arrested accused.

The prime accused in this case was Jagdish Kumar Behera from Gopalpur of Ganjam district. He was operating the racket from Bhubaneswar.
