5th National Chilika Bihanga Utsav from Jan 6-12 To Promote Bird Conservation
Bhubaneswar: The fifth National Chilika Bihanga Utsav will be hosted by the Odisha Government from January 6 to 12 to promote bird conservation and boost awareness about the rich biodiversity of Chilika Lake.
During this week long event, participants will get scope of birdwatching and guided visits to the Chilika Bird Sanctuary. Chilika Lake is Asia’s largest brackish lagoon and it plays host to thousands of unique avian guest every winter.
According to Odisha Forest and Environment Minister Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia, this Utsav will bring together environmentalists, scientists, and bird enthusiasts from across the country.
The event will include seminars, discussions and workshops on bird conservation and the ecological significance of Chilika. Students from schools, colleges, and art institutions will also participate in it adding a youthful perspective to the conservation dialogue.
The Odisha Wildlife Organization will screen documentaries highlighting the diverse bird species and ecosystems of Chilika during the event.
