4G towers will be set up in Maoist-affected areas

KORAPUT:The Central Government will set up 63 4G mobile towers in nine Maoist-affected districts of Odisha, said BK Nayak, state chief of the Odisha Licensed Service Area, LSA.
Koraput SP Barun Guntapal chaired as the chief guest of the conference, while PK Chand, Rural Director, Telecom, Ansul Agrawal, Rural ADG, Department of Telecom, Additional District Magistrate, Koraput, was present on the occasion.
The Malkangiri district aims to build a maximum of 124 towers, while the telecom department will set up 45 towers in Koraput district, 33 in Rayagada district, 22 in Nabarangpur, eight in Kandhamal, six in Kalahandi, four in Kalahandi, four in Nuapada, two in Boudh and two in Buddhism. He said at a press conference in Koraput today that Reliance Jio would conduct the survey and complete the survey within 14 months by March 2022. Mr Nayak said Rs 422 crore would be spent on the construction of the new tower. Similarly, panchayat offices in all these districts are being provided with high-speed internet through optical fiber at a cost of Rs 500 crore. In Koraput district, 145 out of 240 panchayats have been connected by telecom, while all other panchayats will be completed by March 2022, he said. Koraput SP Barun Guntapalli is hopeful that this will help control crime in Maoist-affected areas. Suryakant Behera, Deputy Director, District Planning and Supervision, conducted the program.
