300 Truck Loads of Potato from UP to Reach Odisha to Ease Price
Bhubaneswar: Around 300 truckloads of potatoes from Uttar Pradesh are expected to arrive in Odisha from Monday morning providing some hope that it will ease the soaring potato crisis in the state.
The decision of neighbouring West Bengal to stop potato supply to Odisha has increased the price of the tuber to Rs 50 per Kg in several areas of the state.
On Sunday, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra informed that a task force has been formed to check overpricing, hoarding, and black marketing of potatoes in the state. He hoped that potato from UP will reduce its price in the state.According to reports, one truck of potatoes from Uttar Pradesh reached Cuttack Chhatra Bazaar in Cuttack on Monday morning, and 10 to 12 trucks of potatoes have reached Bhubaneswar from Uttar Pradesh.
According to Sudhakar Panda, general secretary of the Odisha Traders’ Federation, 300 trucks of potatoes from UP are expected to reach Odisha soon.
