25TH MINES ENVIRONMENT & MINERAL CONSERVATION WEEK AT UTKAL ALUMINA

Tikiri/Rayagada:07.12.2023A weeklongMines Environment and Mineral Conservation (MEMC) programme was organised at Baphlimali Bauxite Minesof Utkal Alumina International Limited, a subsidiary of Hindalco limited of Aditya Birla Group to commemorate its silver jubilee from 30thNovember 2023 to 06thDecember2023, underthe aegis of the Indian Bureau of Mines, Bhubaneswar.
The significance of the week was to highlight the conservation of mineral resources & protect the environment whileraising awareness on mining practices amongemployees, students, stakeholders, and community.
On 1st December 2023, the Baphlimali Bauxite Mine was inspected by the delegates of inspection team MrDillip Kumar Parida (Convenor), Rungta Sons (P) Ltd., MrAtanu Bandopadhaya, Narbheram Power, MrPulack Ranjan Nayak, OMC Ltd. The program was followed by an awareness programme which was organised at Nuapada Club house in presence of the delegates, employees, family members, stakeholders, and workers. Competitions like essay writing, slogan writing & poster making for employees along with skits and dance performances marked the celebration followed by a felicitation ceremony to encourage the participants and winners.
Mr. Mukesh Kumar Jha, Head of Baphlimali Bauxite Mines, Mr. Kausikisaran Mishra-Head of Refinery Operations, Mr. Bijaya Kumura Unit HR Head along with the senior management team of Utkal Alumina with inspection team, inaugurated the programme and committed to continue conserving the natural resources.
The Inspection Team appreciated the structure and function of the mines, action plans for community reciprocation and sustainability.They further acknowledged thecommendable effort and enthusiasm displayed by the mining team to ensure smooth execution of the awareness drive.
