2021-Thakurani Yatra Begins in Berhampur Silk City

Berhampur,The much-awaited famous “Maa Budhi Thakurani” festival kick-started in a traditional way following the goddess’s arrival in her parental house at Deshibehera Street here on Friday night.
As per rituals, the Goddess was brought from her Temple by her parents, P Durga Prasad and P Devaki, with procession, beating of drums, conches, trumpets and dances etc.. the parents with garlands and sacred earthen lamps to invite the Goddess. After Puja, an Agyan Mala (Permission) was brought by the parents.When Deshi Behera (P.Durga Prasad)will get the Agyan Mala, the Goddess will be taken to her parental place.
But, this year all kind of procession, beating of drums, conches, trumpets and dances by devotees was restricted by the Ganjam district administration keeping in view of Covid-19 protocol and the 2nd “Lahar” of Corona Virus the permission is granted only for 7 days.
Honouring the permission, on Friday Budhi Thakurani’s father Deshi Behera came to the temple with request for Agyan Mala (Permission) of Maa Budhi Thakurani to brought her parental house. Soon after the puja and other rituals approved “Maa” went to her parental house and was seated at temporary abode.
Keeping in view of public crowd in Temple zone and Desibehera Street the administration imposed Sec144 from 6 PM to 6 AM next day. Adequate police are being deployed for law and order. But its reported everything moved peacefully and organised in well manner.
As per the latest information the District administration granted permission after demand from Desibehera Market committee the Darshan time is fixed from 5AM to 10 AM and evening from 4 PM to 9 PM.
