117th Birthday & Sports Day Observed

Paralakhemundi- 117th Birthday & National Sports Day observed at district headquarter of Gajapati, Paralakhemundi. Collector Lingaraj Panda graced as chief guest, among others Phalguni Majhi, PA ITDA, DWO Santosh Kumar Rath, Executive Officer of Paralakhemundi Municipality Jubilee Charan Behera, district sports officer Natabar Garada also present. Speakers lauded on skills of Major Dhyanchand who figured hockey into world sports.He,too, signified his presence where India got coveted Gold in hockey continuously on 1928, 1932,1936.He scored more than 400 goals a unique record.Now students can emerge themselves to upbeat their skills & bring their name & fame in hockey. Hockey transformed in Odisha from rural belt where on national & international level sportspersons on both males & females could elevate their recognition. They are hopeful that such belligerent move can emerge to discover among grassroots from this district.
