10th Edition of “Ama Nrutya Ama Sanskruti” Organised

“UAIL played a significant role in preserving and promoting tribal folk art”

Rayagada, 14/3: The 10th edition of Ama Nrutya Ama Sanskruti was organised with great enthusiasm by Utkal Alumina International Limited (UAIL), a unit of Hindalco Industries under the Aditya Birla Group, at Doraguda in Tikiri of Rayagada district. The two-day cultural programme, organized by the CSR department of UAIL, provided a vibrant platform for local artists to showcase traditional folk dance and cultural heritage.

The initiative was undertaken to revive and promote local art and culture, while also providing a platform for tribal traditions, heritage, and folk performances. It also aims to bring the hidden talents of the region into the public spotlight.

On the first day of the event, talented artists from 21 nearby villages performed the traditional tribal Dhemsa dance. Renowned Odia film personality Mr. Ashrumochan Mohanty attended the programme as the chief guest and emphasized that dance and culture represent the identity of society. He appreciated UAIL’s efforts in preserving and promoting indigenous culture.

An active member of the cultural fraternity and a proud son of Rayagada soil.  Mr. Basudev Manabisoi also addressed the gathering and commended the company for organizing initiatives like Ama Nrutya Ama Sanskruti, which help keep tribal traditions alive while contributing to the overall development of the region. Ex MLA Mr.Makaranda Muduli and film actress Ms. Madhusmita Mohanty also praised the efforts of UAIL in promoting local culture.

Artists from nearby villages including Ladiguda, Kodipari, Andirakancha, Naringjodi, Nuagaon, Dangasil, Bagrizola, Kucheipadar, Thutibar, and Sorisapadar participated in the competition and performed traditional Dhemsa dances. In the competition, the team from Gokulamunda secured the first position, while K. Keral team stood second and the R&R Colony team secured the third position.

On the second day of the programme, Aditya Refinery Head Mr. Mazhar Beig, along with other dignitaries including HR Head Deepak Mohanty, attended the event as guests. UAIL Unit Head Rabi Narayan Mishra welcomed the guests and addressed the gathering.

Speaking on the occasion, Mazhar Beig stated that the Ama Nrutya Ama Sanskruti programme has played an important role in bringing tribal culture and traditions to the forefront. He appreciated the CSR team for organizing such meaningful initiatives.

In his address, Unit Head Mr Rabi Narayan Mishra said that Ama Nrutya Ama Sanskruti has grown beyond being just a festival and has now become a grand cultural celebration. He emphasized that the programme aims to bring hidden talents of the region to the public domain so that local artists can gain recognition and bring pride to the area.

The second phase of the event featured performances by artists from different parts of the country. Classical Odissi dance as well as folk dances such as Kalbelia from Rajasthan, Cheraw dance from Mizoram, and Lavani dance from Maharashtra were presented on stage, adding diversity and vibrancy to the celebration.

The programme was organized under the supervision of CSR Head Lopamudra Mishra, with support from Plant CSR Head Diganta Mohanty and the CSR team. Local public representatives including Kashipur Block Chairman Kantha Majhi and Zilla Parishad Chairperson Saraswati Majhi were also present on the occasion. Senior officials of the company including Narayan Mitra, Mrinmoy Mandal, Pitambar Behera and others extended their support for the successful conduct of the event.
