Cuttack,17/12/17:Tension ran high outside Barabati Stadium after spectators break barricade as they couldn’t get tickets for the India-Sri Lanka T20 match.

According to reports, sport lovers had made beelines at counters of the Barabati Stadium since last night to buy tickets. However, the  tickets for gallery no 1, 2,3,4,6 and 7 which were sold in counter no 2 and 3, got over, when the spectators came to know about it, they  got fumed and broke the barricades and ransacked the ticket counters.

They alleged that though the Odisha Cricket Association had declared to make the ticket available for spectators at counters for two days on December 16 and 17, but the State cricket body sold the tickets on December 16 even after the 6 pm deadline.

“They have sold the tickets till 9 pm on Saturday while it was told to end the ticket selling process at 6 pm. Today, when we came and stood up in a queue, we were told that there is no more tickets,” said a youth.

Police deployed there managed to bring the situation under control.

At least 9,310 tickets for the match were made available online from November 20. The OCA has printed 44,490 tickets, including complimentary passes, for the 45,000-capacity stadium. At least 12,690 tickets were available from the counters.

Of those, 22,000 have been allocated for the public, while the rest will be made available through affiliated bodies of the OCA and the BCCI and complimentary passes.
