NO PROGRESS ON IMPLEMENTATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES ACT(?). Featured

Report;Bureau,Odishabarta

PRESS NEGLECTED (!).

Berhampur,12/09/19:Traffic was discharging the ongoing enforcement against violators strictly under Motor Vehicle Amendment Act 2019 in Berhampur city from the day of announcement.

Amid resentment across the state  imposition of heavy fines on traffic rule violators, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik directed officials not to enforce provisions of the new Motor Vehicles Act aggressively at least for  three months. In Bhubaneswar several people were injured in a recent clash between police and a group of people over against collection of hefty penalties under the new legislation.

The instruction of the Chief Minister being properly  followed by Berhampur Police.

In this context, Chief Minister has expressed deep concern over the public resentment which has been reported ".Particularly in Berhampur, on account of enforcement Berhampur SP has instructed to his official staff only to be concentrate on Drunken Drive and Mobile talk Berhampur Police District.

Today a review meeting of Road safety committee was conducted by Shinde Dattatraya Bhausaheb the sub Collector on topic regarding Road Safety condition, progress on MV act  in Berhampur.

From a reliable source it came to notice that it resolved that direction communicated to the Executive Engineer,N.H to repair the damaged roads as soon as possible. Reviewed on the achievement of revenue target, Major action to be taken with immediate effect and impose heavy fines those are riding bikes without Helmet, Mobile talk on road etc..

One side the chief Minister relaxed on the rule other side sub collector ordering for strict action to implement (?)..

Notably, the chief minister has directed the "enforcement agencies not to go on an overdrive to implement the provisions of the MV Act, rather counsel the public to facilitate compliance with the amended rovisions of the act".

In this review meeting among the committee members reprentative from Auto Rickshaw association, Truck Owners association, Private and Govt Bus operators,ARTO and other line of officers were present.

But it’s a matter of surprise the Sub Divisional administration didn’t felt the presence of Press people rather ignore while the agenda is absolutely related to public interest (?).
