Berhampur,09/03/19:On auspicious occasion today Berhampur police district arranged a felicitation function at police district H.Q,Berhampur to Odisha’s ace weightlifter K.Ravi Kumar and Constable Minati Das. 

 Odisha Police bagged Gold and Silver medal in weight lifting event in the 67th All India Police Wrestling Cluster-2019 at Jaipur in Rajasthan. 

The All India Police Wrestling Cluster is being played at Jaipur under the aegis of Rajasthan Police. The event which began from February 27 will conclude March 3. 

In presence of all Police officers and Media persons they both felicitated and the programme is chaired by Berhampur Superintendent of Police Pinak Mishra. 

Briefing to Media Mishra,SP said its a great achievement for Odisha police and our police district very much  proud for both the achiever those proven the name and fame of Odisha Police  Nationally. 

Notably,Minati Das pocketed the silver in the 45 kg weight category and lifted 47 kg in clean and 65 kg in jerk, total 112 kg.Currently, Constable Minati is working in Berhampur Police District. She is undergoing her basic training programme now at PTC Nayagarh. 

Kumar started weightlifting at the Veer Hanuman Club in the city. K. Ravi Kumar was originally a bodybuilder for 9 years before he took up weightlifting. However, He took up weightlifting just three years before the 2010 Commonwealth games and won with a record total of 321 kg (708 lb). Ravi Kumar hailing from Berhampur in Ganjam district, Odisha police had appointed Ravi as DSP in June 2016. 

Among others, Prabhar Routray,ASP,BP Pati(City),Jayant Mohapatra (City-II) all DSP and journalists were present.
