Angul, December 17, 2018:Mega cricket tournament organised by Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) CricFest 2018 has been concluded on December 15, 2017 evening with an exciting match. Extreme Team comprising players from SMS, DRI, LDP and Oxygen Plant of JSPL won the Champion’s Trophy by defeating Spartans Team comprising players from Plate Mill, Bar Mill and SSD Plant by Eight wickets. Executive Director (I/c) and Location Head of JSPL’s Angul unit Mr. Atul Misra & Mr. Suresh Kumar, ED-Maintenance graced the final match of the tournament as Chief-Guest and presented the trophies in presence of HoDs of different departments, employees and their family members and spectators from the township and local villages.

Chasing a target of 61 runs in 10 overs to win the Panther CrickFest title, Extreme achieved the target in the Final Over of the match. Mr. Nitesh Kumar of Extreme was declared Man-of-the-Match while Mr. Prabhudutta Das of Josh Team was awarded with Man-of-the-Tournament. A special prize was also given to Mr. Sonu Yadav of Spartan Team for hitting Maximum Sixes in the Final Match.

Distributing the trophies, Mr. Atul Kumar Misra, appreciated the effort of Jindal Officer’s Club and its members for organizing such kind of inter-departmental tournaments for the employees.

This Seven-day long cricket tournament played under flood-light was organised by the Jindal Officer’s Club (JOC) Angul.  All the departments of JSPL participated with their best players in this Cricket Extravaganza which was inaugurated on 9th Dec, 2018. Total 17 matches were played excluding the mega final. The tournament was successfully managed by JOC Sports Committee under the active guidance of Mr. Damodar Mittal (EVP & Head Iron Making & General Secretary of JOC) and Mr. Ashish Pandey (AVP & Joint General Secretary of JOC).
