16TH ANNUAL RURAL SPORTS MEET AT NTPC KANIHA Featured

Talcher,16/12/18:16th Annual Rural Sports Meet NTPC Kaniha organised by Sports Council NTPC Kaniha under the CSR Initiative of NTPC Kaniha from December 14-15,2018.The very popular annual sports event s being organised every year by the Odisha’s Largest & NTPC Second Largest Power station. 

The rural athletic sports event this year saw a participation of children from 24 Schools of NTPC Kaniha ,400 school children took part in the meet. .School Students took part in the following athletics events i.e running race event of 100,200, javelin throw, long jump, shot put & discus throw. The event is an attempt to encourage sports among youth. The objective of the sports meet was to promote rural sports events and encourage hidden talent of the rural school children. 

On the occasion, two girls Ms Anuja DasMohapatra, and Bishnupriya Sethi were felicitated for their outstanding contribution to Sports in Badminton and Athletics respectively. 

Gobind Hansdah of Govt  High school Dereng got the best athlete award in the boy's category. Bishnupriya Sethi of DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL and Jamuna Chatar of Kalpatru HIGH SCHOOL school got the best athlete award in the girls category. 

Kalpatru Maa Bhairavi high school of Bijigol became the school champion and DAV public school NTPC became the runners-up. 

 Santosh James CGM NTPC Kaniha was the chief guest of the occasion, he congratulated all the winners for their achievements and shared that such events will have a great impact for boosting athletics in rural areas. On the occasion, KS Sarma AGM HR, KC Maharana ,Chairman, Sports Council,PK Sahu DGM HR, and other officials of NTPC including Rashmi Ranjan Satapathy ,Secretary ,Sports Council and other office bearers of the sports council were present.
