Tragic Road accident in K’mal in Odisha

Kandhamal,12/08/18:Today around noon hours in a tragic road accident at Sarangad in Kandhamal one lady was killed under G.Udayagiri police limit. The couple who were travelling by a  Scooty they met a major accident on face to face with a Oil tanker from opposite side.On spot the lady was died and the male person sustained severe injuries was shifted to Raikia Hospital in critical condition with the help of local public. Both deceased and injured persons not yet identified.Tension prevailed in the area after the mishap. No police not yet reached to the spot (?).

Jajpur,11/08/18: A married woman was allegedly gang raped by three persons on the pretext of job and was later dumped on the road side. The incident took place at Chilipada under Korai police limits in Jajpur district.

When the matter came to light on Saturday some local rescued her from the road side and informed the police about the happenings. However,police reached the sight and took the woman for medical examination in the local hospital.

According to police the woman, who was estranged by her husband is a resident of Kuakhia police limits. She is currently working at a private college in Bhubaneswar to earn a living.

The victim told the police that, she arrived at Panikoili bus stop on Friday evening to visit a relative’s house. Meanwhile, three persons indentified as Bodhia Malick, Lala Malick and Hani Rout approached her and asked her the purpose of her visit to the area.

After she expressed her necessity of a job, the accused persons offered her a job at a car showroom. Following this, the woman agreed to go with them, it was learnt.

The woman also alleged that the accused persons took her to a secluded place; snatched away Rs 10,000 from her and took turns to rape her. Later, in the morning they dumped her on the road side with a threatening not to reveal the matter to anyone and fled from spot.

On the basis of the complaint made by the victim, police launched a manhunt to nab the suspects, who are absconding after the matter came to the fore.

Ganjam,10/08/18:A sex racket running in a hotel was busted by Polosara Police in Odisha’s Ganjam district. 

Polosara Police team led by IIC,Ms.Tapaswini Kanhar conducted a raid  in Ratni Lodge of Polasara and  caught red-handed  one boy with one college going  girl  in compromise position. 

 They both belong to Kodala and Purusottampur area. 

During the interrogation the boy   admitted he is already married.  The lodge owner is always encouraging them with high rent and allowing many college boys for doing such offensive work. 

The girl Sarmistha (Fake name) rescued by the cops from the hotel, who was allegedly involved in the flesh trade in the hotel since long (!). 

As per the available information, the sex racket was going on at a hotel under Polasara police limits in the district for the last few months. 

The police has arrested Laxmi Naryan Panigrahy,Dharmedra BIsoi, including hotel owner and  girl was sent to a government shelter home. 

Polosara police has registered a case under immoral traffic prevention Act later both the accused person have been forwarded to court after  Medical examination and other formalities.

 

Ganjam Police; Within 24 hrs another Notorious Criminal Injured after Encounter in Aska

Berhampur,09/08/18:A hardcore criminal  was nabbed after an encounter near Charimili square under the Aska police limits in Ganjam district of Odisha on Thursday. 

According to Santosh Mohanty, IIC, Aska the accused criminal has been identified as Kalu Biswal of Kabisurya Nagar the principal accused of Sania Bisoi,one of  BJD leader murder case of Badagada  in Ganjam. During exchange of fire he sustained bullet injuries on his legs. 

Over telephonic discussion Mr Brijesh Ray, SP, Ganjam said, based on the intelligence input, a police team of Aska police station tracked down Kalu at Charimile square. When they tried to apprehend him, Kalu fired at the police personnel. In retaliation, the police team force to fire and injured him. From his possession our police have seized one revolver, live bullets, one mobile phone and one motorcycle. Our police team admitted him at Aska Hospital later shifted to Berhampur MKCG-MCH hospital. 

The criminal was wanted by Ganjam and Berhampur  police for long time who involved in several cases including murders, and different extortion cases.he added.

ACCOUNTS OFFICERS OF ORHDC SENT TO JAIL IN VIGILANCE CASE

Cuttack,09/08/18:The Hon’ble Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar had pronounced Judgment on 03.07.2018 convicting  Vinod Kumar, IAS , Ex- Managing Director, Odisha Rural Housing Development Corporation (ORHDC), Bhubaneswar , Purna Chandra Das, the then Executive Director (Technical), ORHDC, Sanjay Mohanty, Ex- Asst. Manager, ORHDC, Pradeep Kumar Rout, Ex- Accounts Officer, ORHDC,Chittaranjan Mallick, Ex-Accountant (Contractual), ORHDC and  Asish Kumar Nayak, Secretary of Gramya Bikas Mancha  as they were found guilty of offences U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of the Prevention of Corruption Act., 1988 and Section 420/120-B of Indian Penal Code in Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. Case No.54/2007 for criminal conspiracy, obtaining pecuniary advantage to NGO Gramya Bikas Mancha owned by Asish Kumar Nayak by releasing funds in an arbitrary manner without following the guidelines to set up Rural Building Centre (RBC), Balipatna and thereby cheating State and Financial Institutions.  Hon’ble Court pronounced sentence against the convict Sri Sanjay Mohanty, Ex-Assistant Manager, ORHDC, who was present in the Court on the date of judgement and issued NBWs against the others for their production in the court. 

The other five convicts in respect of whom sentences were kept reserved and NBWs were issued, took shelter in the Hon’ble High Court by filing Misc. Cases.  The Hon’ble High Court rejected all the Misc. Cases on 7.8.2018 and ordered them to surrender before the trial court for hearing of sentences. 

As per the orders of the Hon’ble High Court dt.07.08.2018, convict Pradeep Kumar Rout and Chittaranjan Mallick surrendered before Hon’ble Court of Spl. Judge, Vigilance Bhubaneswar, to-day i.e. on 08.08.2018 and the trial court pronounced the sentence against them to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for three years and to pay a fine of  Rs. 25,000/-  each on each count for the offence U/s 13(2) P.C. Act/420/120-B IPC, in default to undergo Rigorous Imprisonment for two months each on each default. The sentences are to run concurrently. Convict Sri Pradeep Kumar Rout and Shri Chittaranjan Mallick have been sent to the jail custody. 

 Earlier, on 4.8.2018, Asish Kumar Nayak, Secretary of Gramya Bikash Manch was sent to jail custody after pronouncement of sentence  against him.

 

Criminal Dillip Das arrested after Encounter In Ganjam

Berhampur,08/08/18:Continuing crackdown on criminals across Ganjam district, there was another exchange of fire on today at about 5 30 am by the side of SH 36 near Pustapur cashew field under Kodala PS limits.

One Bidesi @Dillip Das aged about 24 years of Narandeipur, under Banapur PS   Khorda  a veteran inter District Criminal involved in more than 20 cases of Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam,Bhubaneswar and Cuttack rural received gunshot injury on his right leg and shifted to Khallikote CHC  for treatment and referred to MKCG Hospital Berhampur with proper escort.

According to SDPO,Aswini Kumar Sahu police have recovered one country made pistol, two  round of live bullet, one  motor cycle. One mobile hand set and cash of Rs 14000 /- recovered from him. The criminal opened fire at police first and the security officials too retaliated in which he sustained injuries. he added.

 

Odisha-born Terrorist handler Arrested at Delhi Air Port by NIA

Bhubaneswar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) today arrested a Saudi Arabia-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist handler, Habibur Rahaman alias Habib, a resident of Odisha from the Indira Gandhi International airport in New Delhi, sources said. 

Rahman, a native of Kendrapara district, was taken into custody after he arrived there from Saudi Arabia. 

He is allegedly the handler of LeT terrorist Shaikh Abdul Naeem alias Nomi who was nabbed in 2007 while trying to infiltrate three terrorists – two Pakistanis and one Kashmiri – into India through Bangladesh. Sources said the NIA has arrested Rahman after receiving an Intel input that he was travelling to India. 

Rahman arranged hideouts and funds for Shaikh Abdul Naeem on different occasions for carrying out terrorist activities in India on the directions of the LeT terrorist Amjad alias Rehan who is based in Pakistan, the NIA said according to reports. 

Naeem escaped from custody in August 2014 while on way from Kolkata for a court appearance in Maharashtra and resumed his activities on the directions of his handlers in Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. 

Rahman had arranged shelter and funds for Naeem on different occasions for carrying out terrorist activities in India on the directions of LeT commander Amjad based in Pakistan, said the official. 

The agency said that a conspiracy was hatched between Rahman and Naeem for targeting vulnerable locations in India with the intent to cause the maximum damage. 

Naeem was tasked to identify locations where terrorist attacks could be carried out. For this purpose, Naeem assumed fake identities and visited different states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Chandigarh and did reconnaissance of possible targets. 

Both Rahman and Naeem have already been named in a NIA chargesheet along with nine co-accused. 

Rehman is being produced in Delhi’s Patiala House Courts by the NIA to seek custody for his interrogation. 

Meanwhile, Odisha police said it will help the NIA, if needed, for investigation. “Our Special Task Force (STF) is now in contact with NIA and if they (NIA) seeks our assistance we will cooperate with the investigation,” said DGP in-charge Satyajit Mohanty.

Group Clash in Ganjam, Man beaten to Death, Situation under Control

Hinjilicut:In a terrible incident, a man was beaten to death while another was left battling for life during a clash between two groups at Brahmanachai village under Shergada block and Hinjilicut police limits in Ganjam district Saturday. 

The deceased was identified as Bulu Pradha and the injured was Bana Nahak who admitted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. 

According to spectacular, while Bana Nahak was the target of the opponent group, but unfortunately in return Bulu lost his life in a bid to save the former. 

The incident spread tension gripped and outrage in the village as the two groups ran riot after the death reports. The villagers ransacked each other’s houses and pelted stones at each other, injuring many. 

Following the issue Hinjili Police started proper investigation headed by Prashant Kumar Sahoo,IIC arrested  five persons from different attempts they are; Nilachal Prusty 46 yrs, Simanchal Dalei 28 yrs  Mangulu Prusti 19 yrs Bhima @ Hemanta Prusty 21 yrs,Allada @ Narayan Mallik 28 yrs.Police recovered one Belcha, one Kati, one crowbar. 

In this context,Hinjili Police registered a case vide the  case no 184 dt 4.8.18 U/S 147/148/294/ 323/324/324/326/ 307/302/506/149 IPC registered on the report of Banamali Nahaka and B N Pur UD case 283 dt 4.8.18 relating to inquest and PM of Bulu Pradhan. 

All accuse persons forwarded to court of JMFC, Seragada today. 

Keeping in view of further law-and order police deployed two platoons of force at village Brahmachhai and IIC,Sahoo personally available on spot as the report says. 

While interacted with  Sahoo,IIC,Hinjili he said  now the situation under close watch and the Police administration  trying for a peace committee meeting at an early to normalise the grave situation. 

Mr Brijesh Ray,SP,Ganjam personally monitoring the situation and well in touch with aggrieved village leaders.
