BERHAMPUR,17/11/18:Salesman along with his lover were arrested by Berhampur Town police on Friday in connection for the alleged murder of his own wife.
Rabindra Behera (48), a resident of Military Lane, had allegedly killed his 45-year-old wife Papina Behera on September 9. Town police IIC Nihar Ranjan Pradhan said Rabindra and Papina were married for 24 years and have three sons.
In a press meet Addl SP,Berhampur,Santanu Dash,told to scribes that differences between the couple started due to financial crisis a few years ago. In the meanwhile, Rabindra developed relationship with Bhanu Dakua, aged 48, a resident of Hillpatna area.In July last year, Rabindra, who worked as a salesman at a cloth shop in the city, left for Hyderabad to pursue better avenues. He had left behind his father Gopal Behera, Papina and elder son Rahul at their Military Lane house.
Further Dash,said,on 6th,2017, the accused threatened Papina with dire consequences over phone. Three days after he talked to his wife, Rabindra returned home and assaulted Papina with a knife, he added.
When interacted with Nihar Ranjan Pradhan,IIC,Berhampur town he said, while Rahul was not at home encasing the opportunity , Gopal tried to resist the attack. By the time, neighbours reached the house and the accused fled from the spot.In connection a complaint was filed by Rahul with the police based on which a case of murder was registered.On Friday when we received information that Rabindra & Bhanu were spotted at Puri by chasing the phone call tracking.
Berhampur,17/11/18:Bulu Kumar Nayak, Health Supervisor, In-Charge V/S Clerk, Khandadeuli Community Health Centre, Rambha, Dist- Ganjam, has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.3,000from complainant Sri Mayadhar Nahak of Rambha, Ganjam to process the file for issue of birth certificate in favour of his son.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 17.11.2018 at 11:35 AM. Accused Nayak, Health Supervisor was caught red-handed by the Vigilance officers of Berhampur Division in his office room, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.3,000/- from complainant Sri Nahak. The bribe money of Rs.3,000/- was recovered from the office table of Sri Nayak, Health Supervisor and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Sri Nayak, Health Supervisor gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Residential house of Sri Nayak, Health Supervisor at Rambha is being searched. Sri Nayak, Health Supervisor has been arrested and forwarded to the Court.
Ganjam,13/1/18:The Continuing process of Ganjam Police to control crime in Ganjam today police has crackdown on anti-social elements, and arrested one hardcore dacoit Benu Barik after an encounter near Ramapada forest under Buguda police limits of the district.
Reliable source said, Police received an input that Benu and his associate were moving on a bike towards Ramapada forest early morning today.
In a press release police said, the exchange of fire with accused Benu Barik of Janptna, under Odagaon P .S area. He is involved in a series of crime in Jankia PS area of Khurdha, Odagaon PS area, Buguda P.S area. He was involved in Manittara bank dacoity cases .He had been convicted in Naranpur bank dacoity case of khurdha dist. He had been in parole from Khurdha Jail in Naranpur Bank dacoity case and did not turned up so far. During period he committed another Bank dacoity at Buguda.
A special team of Buguda police followed them and intercepted the criminals near Ramapada forest. Finding cops on the spot, Benu opened fire with a country-made pistol, however, the police retaliated and fired at him.
Benu Barik sustained critical injuries on his left leg and was later admitted to a hospital in Bhanjanagar. His associates managed to fled from police I-Con.

Vanishree, Sr. Draftsman, Planning Section, O/o BDA, Berhampur, Dist.-Ganjam has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.12,000/- (Rupees Twelve Thousand) from complainant Anish Baig of Niladri Bihar, Berhampur to process the building plan approval file of his father.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 13.11.2018 at 12:20 P.M Ch. Vanishree, Sr. Draftsman was caught red-handed by Vigilance Officers, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.12,000/- from complainant Sri Baig. The bribe money was recovered from the vanity bag of Ch. Vanishree and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hand washes as well as the vanity bag wash of Ch. Vanishree gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by her. Her residential house at Gandhi Nagar, Berhampur is being searched. Ch. Vanishree, Sr. Draftsman has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
Khordha,09/11/18:A joint team of Odisha police and Special Operation Group (SOG) launched a search operation in Gajamundia forest near Deuli village here today after the detention of a suspected Maoist on Thursday.
The police recovered cooking items from the forest during the search operation, which is in progress.
According to reports, the locals had caught one person on suspicion having links with Maoists yesterday. They handed over the suspect to the police.
The accused was identified as Suresh, a resident of Potangi village of Nuapada district.
Sources said that the 20-year-old Suresh was cooking for the ultras in the area in the past two months. He was also providing grocery items to them.
Suresh was caught by the locals while he was purchasing some grocery items yesterday afternoon.
During interrogation, he has reportedly confessed before police about his alleged association with the Maoists.
Cuttack,07/11/18:Vigilance sleuths nabbed the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Bisra block in Sundergarh district while accepting a bribe of Rs 1lakh. The accused has been identified as Prasant Kumar Rout.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 6.11.2018. Accused Rout, B.D.O. was caught red-handed by the Vigilance officers at the rest room of Bisra Block office, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.1,00,000/- from complainant Sri Jena. Sri Rout, B.D.O received the bribe money of Rs.1,00,000/- from the complainant, and kept the same in a table drawer. The bribe money was recovered from the possession of Sri Rout and seized in presence of witnesses. His right hand wash as well as table drawer wash gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. His residential house located at Bhadrak Town, rented house at Bhubaneswar and Govt. quarter at Bisra, Dist-Sundargarh are being searched. Sri Rout, B.D.O. has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
Meanwhile, simultaneous raids have been conducted by the anti-corruption officials at the BDO’s office in Bisra and his residence in Bhadrak and further probe into the incident is on.
“The BDO was caught red handed while receiving the bribe amount which he had kept in a drawer and the money has been seized,” said Vigilance DSP, Rourkela, Dasharathi Sethi.
Reportedly, Rout was earlier charged with allegations of misappropriation of 584 quintals of PDS rice when he was posted as the BDO of Danagadi block in Jajpur district in 2012.

Berhampur,06/11/18:The managing director of a chit fund company and his wife, who is a director of the firm based in Odisha's Ganjam district were arrested by the police from Bhubaneswar on Tuesday for allegedly duping investors of over Rs 60 crore,
Today in a Press meet Berhampur SP,Pinak Mishra said,the Managing Director Braja Mohan Patnaik and his wife Tridhara Mohanty,Director of Datum Marketing Limited had been absconding since May this year, However our Police team could able to arrest the couple from Bhubaneswar.
The exact amount duped by the company, which had started functioning in October 2006, from the investors is yet to be assessed. Preliminary investigations, however, showed it had collected around Rs 60 crore under different schemes from over 1550 investors from across the state and outside through agents, the SP added.
The couple were brought back to Berhampur and produced before a court which remanded the couple to police custody for three days, he said. The police had registered two cases against the couple and some employees of the company in 2016 and May this year following which the two fled.The company had cheated people by promising them to multiply their money in a short of time but with their ill intention, Mishra said.
When the issue came to limelight and the company did not pay the depositors in time even after the maturity of their investments, several of them had demonstrated in front of the company's office demanding that they be refunded their money.
In context,Alok Jena,IIC Golonthara said the company's head office at Konishi near here has been sealed and documents, computers, hard discs were seized. Four bank accounts had also been freezed.
Berhampur,06/11/18:Basis on the complaint from.Hemalata Behera,of Banchanidhi Nagar, Berhampur the accused persons Paramananda Behera, Ashok Mohapatra, Ramesh Patra, Gopal Krushna Panda and Swarnalata Mohapatra were arrested by BN Pur Police staff here on Tuesday.
According to JK Patnaik,IIC,BN Pur police station that all four accused persons had opened an Agency at Subba Rao Chhak in city during the year 2013 in the names & style as Future Infra Ltd. to deal with purchase and sale of lands. When the Complainant approached them for plots they regd. fake lands in her favour and took away Rs.16,00,000/- for two plots in shape of cash & cheques by cheating.
After proper investigation when the police find sufficient evidence and clues a team of police officers arrested the accuse persons on Tuesday at evening hours and forwarded to Court.
