Berhampur,30/11/18:Sadar Police, Berhampur have nabbed seven miscreants planning burglary and recovered two sharp-edged weapon, iron rods, two live bombs and three Bikes.
SS Mohapatra,IIC Sadar PS said that acting on a tip off In the intervening night of 28/29.11.18 while performing night patrolling in the PS area received reliable information that a group Anti socials assembled near Budhighara temple to commit dacoity in the nearby areas. After reconfirming the information, we conducted raids and apprehended five of them and two escaped by hurling bombs. but fortunately we saved by taking adds.
They all quizzed and confessed that they were planning for burglary. The five tried to escape but were chased and nabbed by the police.
The apprehended miscreants are; Prasanta Sahu, Sarat Sahu, P.Srinivas Rao, Panchanan Sahu and Susanta Sahu, all from village Ankusapur.
In this connection Berhampur Sadar PS case and all five accuses arrested and forwarded to court.
Berhampur,25/11/18: The Berhampur Superintendent of Police (SP) Pinak Mishra on Sunday suspended 5 constables for dereliction of duty after an accused identified as Babu Nayak under treatment escaped from the police custody here today.
Babu was held by the police from Bhanjanagar about one month back and was undergoing treatment at the hospital under police vigil. However, the criminal managed to flee from the premises of the hospital.
Babu has a long criminal history in Ganjam at different police stations who successfully fled from police custody. Two months back he had fled from the Bhanjanagar prison where he was lodged after being arrested in a police encounter.
Koraput,25/11/18:Sunabeda cops in less than a month have rescued 20 migrant labourers, including 7women and 13men, most of them from jilaguntha village under pottangi PS of Koraput district.
Sources said most of the rescued labourers were from drought-prone pockets of Western Odisha and had such things in common - poverty, illiteracy and ignorance. And they were not migrating for money, but just to arrange two square meals to sustain themselves and their families. While migration and drought are synonymous to the region, for the first time, police seem to have acted and rescued them.
The first incident of migration came to light on October when pottangi police received a FIR copy by family members to rescue 20 persons of jilaguntha village then, a case was filed under pottangi police station to rescue this migratant labours from their family members .Later by the direction of Koraput Superintendent of Police Dr. K.V.Singh and supervision of Sunabeda SDPO Niranjan Behera and team of officials named Karunakar Gouda with lady police staffs went to operation .
On the basis of phone calls of migrantant labours for help, police started tracing the number with the help of Karnataka police and traced it which is nearer to Shimoga rural PS.
Finally migrant’s labourers were traced with difficulties and rescued to koraput district.
Conducting a press meet SDPO Niranjan Behera stated that police also arrested labour Sardar (Team Leader) accused Linga khora (45) and forwarded to jail u/s 374IPC,(25) with case no :128/18. They worked with difficulties for 12 hours duty a day with physical torture, per month they used to pay 3000 bucks but they should pay more as per labour act. Few labourers were sending to hospital for health injury and fever.
Whoever unlawfully compels any person to labour against the will of that person shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to one year, or with fine, or with both. At last he thank Karnataka police and his officials who helped them to rescue all,he added.

Chatrapur,(Ganjam),21/11/18:In a major development in the Polasara minor girl gang-rape case, Ganjam police on Wednesday nabbed three persons for their alleged involvement in the case.
Acting on the complaint filed by the victim’s family, police launched a manhunt and arrested the trio. The accused persons have been identified as Kalia Patra of Sodak village under Polasara police station, Mohan Topakul of Panchuani village under Sheragada police limits and Siba Kanmur of Sahaspur under Pattapur police limits.
Meanwhile, the rape survivor is undergoing treatment at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital here.
Today in a press meet SP,Ganjam,Brijesh Ray told to scribes that, on Oct 31st in the fateful night, the accused trio barged into the house of the minor girl while the girl asleep at home at Balichai village and abducted her after stealing gold and other valuables from their house. The miscreants later took her to a farmland and took turns to rape her he said.
The family members rushed to the spot on hearing the girl’s scream and rescued her. The victim was initially rushed to the Polasara hospital and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. In connection the cops had detained eight suspects and released the sketches of other suspects.
Berhampur,(Kodola),19/11/18: A youth (26) was shot dead by some miscreants at Mathasarasinga area under Kodala police limits of Ganjam district last evening. The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Parida, of Village Chhachina.
According to reports, the incident occurred when four miscreants allegedly followed Rajendra when he was at Chhachinha square on Sunday around 7 PM at evening hours.
The miscreants blindly fired around 6/7 rounds from their Pistol at him in public place. To save him himself he was enter into a shop even the miscreants stoned Parida to death.
Soon getting information, Kodala IIC, Sushant Kumar Sethy with his team rush to the spot and sent the body for post mortem to MKCG Hospital, Berhampur.
Police have recovered three rounds of bullets and four empty cartridges three Khoka from the spot, sources.
Initial information suggests from the villagers that the murder was fallout of past enmity or may be political because some of family members of the deceased are in active politics.
According to Sethy, IIC, Kodola, Rajendra worked at a textile mill in Surat and had returned to the village for Dewali celebration.
BERHAMPUR,17/11/18:Salesman along with his lover were arrested by Berhampur Town police on Friday in connection for the alleged murder of his own wife.
Rabindra Behera (48), a resident of Military Lane, had allegedly killed his 45-year-old wife Papina Behera on September 9. Town police IIC Nihar Ranjan Pradhan said Rabindra and Papina were married for 24 years and have three sons.
In a press meet Addl SP,Berhampur,Santanu Dash,told to scribes that differences between the couple started due to financial crisis a few years ago. In the meanwhile, Rabindra developed relationship with Bhanu Dakua, aged 48, a resident of Hillpatna area.In July last year, Rabindra, who worked as a salesman at a cloth shop in the city, left for Hyderabad to pursue better avenues. He had left behind his father Gopal Behera, Papina and elder son Rahul at their Military Lane house.
Further Dash,said,on 6th,2017, the accused threatened Papina with dire consequences over phone. Three days after he talked to his wife, Rabindra returned home and assaulted Papina with a knife, he added.
When interacted with Nihar Ranjan Pradhan,IIC,Berhampur town he said, while Rahul was not at home encasing the opportunity , Gopal tried to resist the attack. By the time, neighbours reached the house and the accused fled from the spot.In connection a complaint was filed by Rahul with the police based on which a case of murder was registered.On Friday when we received information that Rabindra & Bhanu were spotted at Puri by chasing the phone call tracking.
Berhampur,17/11/18:Bulu Kumar Nayak, Health Supervisor, In-Charge V/S Clerk, Khandadeuli Community Health Centre, Rambha, Dist- Ganjam, has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.3,000from complainant Sri Mayadhar Nahak of Rambha, Ganjam to process the file for issue of birth certificate in favour of his son.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 17.11.2018 at 11:35 AM. Accused Nayak, Health Supervisor was caught red-handed by the Vigilance officers of Berhampur Division in his office room, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.3,000/- from complainant Sri Nahak. The bribe money of Rs.3,000/- was recovered from the office table of Sri Nayak, Health Supervisor and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Sri Nayak, Health Supervisor gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe money by him. Residential house of Sri Nayak, Health Supervisor at Rambha is being searched. Sri Nayak, Health Supervisor has been arrested and forwarded to the Court.
