Berhampur,06/11/18:The Datum MD Brajamohan Patnaik is detained at Golanthara police station Monday.
Alok Jena,IIC,Golonthara Police station arrested the Managing Director of Datum Ponzi Scam (Master mind) Brajamohan Patnaik on Monday from Bhubaneswar.
Getting the information hundreds of depositors gathered before the PS all they came with their bond papers, Cheque or Documents as a proof of identity with expectation to get back their deposits (?).
Notably last year a case has been registered at Golonthara Police station allegedly duping 1000 investors.
Over the last year he allegedly convinced people to invest money with promise of high returns. However according to Dr Jena,IIC ,now the interrogation is on by now the accused admitted 8/9 Crores being duped by him. Unless the investigation process is completed it’s very difficult to give a clear figure for public notice.
Further investigation and interrogation is under progress.
Berhampur,04/11/18: In a major development in the Polasara minor girl gang-rape case, DIG (SR)Asish Singh on Sunday informed to scribes that sketches of some suspects will be released soon. “I am very much shocked with such heinous act by the miscreants”.
Preliminary investigation revealed that three robbers allegedly broke open the door and entered the house of the girl when her family members were fast asleep. DIG said.
While discussed with SP Ganjam Brijesh Ray, said, we have formed a expert team consisting of four Inspectors and confident soon the factual will come out. Today, Ganjam police have detained eight persons who were suspected to be involved in the crime.
Acting on the complaint filed by the victim’s family, police launched a probe into the matter and manhunt to nab the accused persons.
Earlier on Wednesday night, three robbers broke into the house, while the family including the minor girl was asleep. After robbing the house of cash and ornaments, the trio kidnapped the girl and took her to a nearby farmland, where they took turns to rape her before fleeing the spot.
The family members rushed to the spot on hearing the girl’s scream and rescued her. The victim was initially rushed to the Polasara hospital and later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.

Wanted Criminal Jitu Swain Injured In Police Encounter In Ganjam
Berhampur,30/10/18: As part of the drive against anti-social elements, the Ganjam police nabbed another dreaded criminal following an encounter late on Monday.
Continuing with its crackdown on history-sheeters in the district, Ganjam Police arrested dreaded criminal Jitu Swain alias Badal following an encounter at Dengapadar Chhak on Hinjilicut-Sheragada road last night.
As per the report, Sheragada Police which got a tip-off on Jitu’s presence near Dengapadar late in the night laid a trap to catch him on Hinjilicut-Sheragada road and started checking the vehicles passing through the route. The criminal who was about to pass through the route along with a few of his aides tried to give police a slip subsequently and opened fire at the police team.
In retaliation, the criminal sustained bullet injury on his right thigh and fell off his bike to get nabbed. However, an unspecified number of his aides managed to escape from the spot.
Police seized one mouser, one live bullet, one mobile phone and the bike used by the criminals during the encounter.
Jitu has over 15 cases including murder pending against him under various police station areas in Ganjam, Khordha and Bhubaneswar. He is the key accused in Jitu Swain and Budha Bisoyi murder cases, said Prasant Sahoo,IIC,Hinjilicut.
He has been admitted to MKCG Medical in Berhampur for treatment following the arrest.
According to reports, police were in the hunt for Jitu who was involved in the murder of Budha Bisoi under Aska police limits, Santosh Biswal under Gangapur police limits and a man of Gothagan village under Sheragada police limits. Besides, more than 22 cases of dacoity and extortion are pending against him in Hinjili and Sheragada police stations and Kharavela Nagar police station in Bhubaneswar.
The intact command by Asish Singh,DIG(SR) and Brijesh Ray,SP Ganjam a special squad was formed comprising IICs of Sheragada, Hinjili, Khalikote and Patapur to apprehend dreaded anti social Badal @ Jitendra Swain who was wanted in series of heinous cases including Gothagan Jogi Swain Murder case, Budha Bisoyi murder case of Aska, attempt to murder of Milu Bisoi of Dharakote , Bhika Tarei of Khalikote.
According to confirmed source, today at 1 am the police party received information that Badal @ jitu is moving in Burupada, Marudi, Gobindapur, Dengapadar area with one of his associate in a motor cycle. Then the police party chased them and while intercepting them at Dengapadar chhaka the accused persons all of a sudden started firing to the police party. In order to protect themselves and in exercising the right to private defence the police party also resorted to firing. As a result Badal @ Jitu received bullet injuries on his right knee and the second accused escaped from the spot.

Cuttack,28/10/18: Today one Sri Dillip Kumar Behera, SI of Police, Hata Delanga Police Out Post, P.S.- Delanga, Dist- Puri has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.4,000/- (Rupees Four Thousand) from complainant Sri Sanjay Behera of Village- Amalanga, PS- Delanga, Dist-Puri for showing favour to his family members in a Ciminal Case against the complainant.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 26.10.2018, Sri Behera, SI was caught red-handed by Vigilance Officers in his rest room in the campus of the Hata Delanga Police Out Post, while demanding and accepting bribe ofRs.4,000/- (Rupees Four Thousand) from complainant Sri Sanjay Behera. The bribe money of Rs.4,000/- (Rupees Four Thousand) was recovered and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash of Sri Behera, S.I. gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe by him. His residential house at Cuttack Town was searched. Sri Behera, S.I.was arrested on 26.10.2018 and forwarded to the Court on 27.10.2018.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance P.S. case No.47dt.25.10.2018 U/s 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered and is under investigation.
Bhubaneswar,25/10/18:Sri Ladda Sikka, Sri. Dadhi Pusika, Sri Kumuti Majhi, Sri Dadhi Kadraka , Jammu Gauda and 20 others of Niyamagiri Surakshya Samiti ( NSS) along with Sri Prafulla Samantara of Lok Shakti Abhiyan, Mr. Narendra Mohanty of INSAF/CAFC , Prof Swadhin Pattnaik univocally condemn the illegal arrest and brutal torture to Sri. Ladd Sikka and others leaders of NSS in the press conference held at Bhubaneswar today. They said that the state is creating an unprecedented state of terror in the people through brutal repressive measures to the extent of branding democratic voices of dissent as Maoists in several instances.
It needs to be noted that the Niyamagiri Suraskhya samiti has planned to conduct a peaceful mass demonstration against the police atrocities on Oct 23, 2018 at Lanjigarh, Kalahandi district of Odisha. On 20th October 2018, the police in civil dresses picked up Mr. Ladda Sikka from the market and subsequently brutally tortured at Muniguda Police station and taken forceful blank signature to stop the peaceful demonstration on 23rd October. Two weeks before, the police had also abducted Mr. Dadi Kadra and gave brutal torture for three days. Mr. Lingaraj Azad, leader of NSS raised against the police atrocities before the Superintendent of Police, Kalahadi. However the SP, Kalahandi has threatened him to cancel the peaceful demonstration.
Mr. Ladda Sikka said that despite the continued police repression we will continue peaceful resistance against the bauxite mining as the Niyamgiri Mountain is the source of our identity, livelihood and much more. Several other tribal activists are in jail on fabricated charges of being Maoists for several months and years now this is the State’s deliberate attempt at silencing the opposition against the State’s agenda of giving away Niyamgiri hills to the Vedanta Corporation. NSS is a democratic and non-violent struggle of the indigenous people to protect mother earth from corporate greed and loot.

Take exemplary action against the Security personnel’s forces that are blatantly violating the laws.
Seek a detailed report and take action on falsely implicated and imprisoned Dongria tribals associated with the Niyamgiri Suraksha Samiti, who have been languishing in jail for months and years now.
Stop arresting innocent people in the name of Maoist repression.
Take appropriate measures to ensure complete closure of Vedant alumina plant in Lanjigarh because of which Dongria peace and happiness have been lost.
Bhubaneswar,25/10/18:Abhijit Iyer Mitra, who has been arrested by Saheed Nagar police and lodged in Jharpada Jail in Bhubaneswar, was taken on a four-day remand by Konark Police on Thursday.
On Tuesday, Konark police had appealed to the court of the Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate here to allow them to take Mitra, a friend of former Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda, on seven days remand. However, the court granted four days remand.
Earlier, Saheed Nagar police have asked Twitter to provide details of Abhijit Iyer Mitra’s account, phone number and mail ID to know what all he posted and when. The Commissionerate police, in a letter to the Micro blogging, has sought the details of Mitra’s accounts and various posts.
Mitra was on Tuesday arrested for his alleged derogatory remarks against the Sun Temple and Odisha culture and lawmakers soon after his appearance before the Odisha Assembly Committee. The Commissionerate Police arrested Mitra after hours of interrogation at an undisclosed location in the city.
The SDJM here on Tuesday turned down his bail petition and remanded him to 14 days judicial custody.
On the basis of a case (462/18), Mitra has been booked under IPC Sections 294, 295A, 153A, 500, 506 and Section 67 of the Information Technology Act.
Iyer Mitra also appeared before the House Committee of Odisha Assembly Tuesday morning and tendered an unconditional apology for his derogatory remarks on Odisha’s legislators.
Berhampur,23/10/18:Today i.e. on 23.10.2018, Sri Prakash Chandra Mishra, Jr. Clerk, Tahasil Office, Raighar, Dist.-Nabarangpur has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Koraput Division for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.7,000/- (Rupees Seven Thousand) from complainant Sri Sarban Gond of Village Karanjidihi,Dist.-Nabarangpur for release of Ex-gratia compensation amount of Rs. 4,00,000/- ( Rupees Four Lakhs) towards death of his father due to snake bite.
Accordingly, a trap was laid on 23.10.2018 at 11:45 A.M., Sri Mishra Jr.Clerkwas caught red-handed by Vigilance Officers, inside the Tahasil Office Campus at Raighar, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.7,000/- from complainant Sri Gond.
The bribe money of Rs.7,000/- was recovered from the pant pocket of Sri Mishra and seized in presence of witnesses. His both hands wash as well as pant pocket wash gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe by him. Residential house of Sri Mishra at Umerkote is being searched. Sri Mishra, Jr.Clerk has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.
Puri,21/10/18:Around Six persons were injured after bombs were hurled at Mangalasahi under Baliapanda police limits in Puri district on Sunday night.
Those injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to sources, there was a heated argument between two groups over lewd comments allegedly passed on a girl.
The situation took an ugly turn in no time after members of both the groups started attacking each other.
Moments later, members of one of the groups hurled bombs and fled the spot.
Dr Sarthak Sarangi ,SP Puri told to scribe on receiving information, a police team rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.
