WANTED CRIMINAL NABBED AFTER POLICE ENCOUNTER IN BERHAMPUR

Berhampur,21/12/18:Launching a crackdown on police log book in Ganjam today Berhampur Police  this morning around 6.30 am arrested hardcore anti-social Jaya Pradhan of Bopmokei under Nuagaon Police station,Berhampur. The exchange of fire took place at Changudidei hill near village Derandi under Digapahandi Police station. 

Pradhan has sustained injury on his left leg and immediately shifted to Digapahndi PHC for medical treatment and after preliminary treatment he was shifted to Berhampur MKCG-MCH Hospital. 

As per the report, a team of Nuagaon Police conducted the raid after getting a tip-off on the presence of the criminal duo near Chagudidei late last night. During the raid the duo tried to escape from the spot by opening fire at the cops and sustained bullet injury on their legs in retaliation. 

Police seized one Pulser motor cycle, one country made pistol, three fired cartridges, one life bomb, bits and pieces of exploded bombs have been    seized from the possession of the arrested criminal during the encounter and arrested. One associate of the anti-social has managed to escape. Search for the absconded anti-social is going ON. 

According to Addl.SP,Santanu Kumar Dash,the antisocial was involved in more than 20 cases of attempt to murder, Robbery,  NDPS cases of Sadar, Badsbazar, Hinjili PSs of Ganjam district as well as Jatani district of Khurdha. 

In attempts of apprehension of the antisocial Debashis Mahanty, IIC Digapahandi PS and two more staff of the PS have also sustained injuries. Detail follows.

 

THREE HARDEN CRIMINAL ARRESTED BY KHALIKOTE POLICE IN GANJAM

Khallikote (Ganjam),20/12/18:Police on Wednesday busted the Khallikote loot case involving  98,585/of cash by arresting three miscreants, and seizing Rs 15,000/- lakh from them, informed Ganjam SP Brijesh Ray.

It may be noted that five miscreants came  on two bikes had snatched away more than lakhs at gunpoint from Mihir Ranjan Patnaik,Manager of Bharat Finance Company of Balugaon  at Khodapada bridge Chhack on 3rd December when the employee was on his way.

A team led by Bibekananda Swain,IIC Khalikote under the proper supervision of Brijesh Ray,SP,Ganjam and Chhatrapur SDPO Ramesh Chandra Sethi, conducted raids many places and arrested three miscreants. However two of them fled from spot.

Apart from Rs 15,000/-in cash, the police also seized  five Tabs(Samsung) Gun and Pistol ,live bullets, and motorcycles from them.

The arrested miscreants were identified as Ashok Nahak,Rakesh Pradhaan and Tukuna Sabar in a FL shop at Langaleswar under Khalikote PS limit.

HOUSE SEARCH OF, ASSISTANT ENGINEER, (ELECTRICAL), ODISHA LIFT IRRIGATION CORPORATION LTD., CUTTACK BY VIGILANCE

Cuttack,18/12/18:Basing on the allegations of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Prasanta Kumar Behera, Assistant Engineer, (Electrical), Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation Ltd., Cuttack, his (1) residential four storied building at Hospital road, Khordha, (2) house at native Village- Chandpur, Sastrinagar, Nayagarh and (3) Office room at Cuttack were simultaneously searched today i.e. on  17.12.2018 by the Officers of Vigilance, Bhubaneswar Division, on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar. 

In course of search and inventory, Sri Prasanta Kumar Behera, Assistant Engineer was found in possession of assets worth Rs.1,41,63,517  including one four storied building, one smooth Elevator lift fitted in the said building,  one Volkswagen Car, one Mahindra Bolero, 2 nos of motor cycles, Bank and Insurance deposits, gold and silver ornaments, Hard Cash and costly household articles. 

During house search, the following movable and immovable assets have been so far unearthed from the possession of Sri Behera and his family members. The enquiry is in progress.

JUNIOR CLERK ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE WHILE ACCEPTING BRIBE. 

Berhampur,14/12/18:Today one Anil Kumar Jena, Jr. Clerk, O/o Block Education Officer, Dharakote, Dist- Ganjam has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.2,000/-from complainant Narayan Sethy of Village/PS- Kabisuryanagar, Dist- Ganjam, now working as Assistant Teacher, Upgraded High School, Garadabili, Dharakote, Dist- Ganjam in order to process the file for release of his leave salary, which had already been granted by Block Education Officer, Dharakote, Dist- Ganjam. 

Accordingly, a trap was laid on 14.12.2018. At 1:10 PM, Sri Anil Kumar Jena, Jr. Clerk was caught red-handed by officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division in his Office room, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand)from complainant Sri Sethy. The bribe money of Rs.2,000/- (Rupees Two Thousand) was recovered from the T-shirt pocket of Sri Jena and seized in presence of witnesses. His right hand wash as well as T-shirt pocket wash gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe by him. His residential rented house at Bani Vihar, Aska is being searched. He has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court. 

 BLOCK PROJECT MANAGER OF COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTRE ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE WHILE ACCEPTING BRIBE. 

In another success one Niranjana Reddy, Block Project Manager, CHC, Patrapur, Dist- Ganjam has been caught red-handed by the officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.2,000/-from complainant Smt. Banita Nayak of village- Sahaspur, PS- Jarada, Dist- Ganjam in order  to issue engagement order in favour of complainant  Smt. Nayak who has already been selected as an Asha Karmi of the CHC. 

Accordingly, a trap was laid on 14.12.2018. At 1:45 PM,  Niranjan Reddy, Block Project Manager was caught red-handed by officers of Vigilance, Berhampur Division in his rented house at Patrapur, Dist- Ganjam, while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.2,000/- from complainant Smt. Nayak. The bribe money of Rs.2,000/- was recovered from the money purse of Sri Reddy and seized in presence of witnesses. Both hands wash as well as money purse wash gave positive chemical reaction, confirming acceptance and handling of bribe by him. His residential rented house at Patrapur and house at native village Lochapada, Berhampur are being searched. He has been arrested and will be forwarded to the Court.

HOUSE SEARCH OF SRI DILLIP KUMAR DAS, SUB-INSPECTOR OF POLICE, COMMISSIONORATE, BHUBANESWAR. 

Basing on the allegations of acquisition of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income by Sri Dillip Kumar Das, Sub-Inspector of Police, working as Court Sub-Inspector, Bhubaneswar, his (1) residential double-storied building at Bhubaneswar, (2) 3 nos of residential buildings of his relatives at Village- Badasarolo, PS- Tirtol,  Badabalikani PS- Kujanga, Dist- Jagatsinghpur  and Bhubaneswar and (3) Office room at Bhubaneswar were simultaneously searched today i.e. on  14.12.2018 by the Officers of Vigilance, Cuttack Division on the strength of Search Warrants issued by the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.  

In course of search and inventory, Sri Dillip Kumar Das, Sub-Inspector of Police was found in possession of assets worth Rs.98,02,327/-including one double-storied building at Bhubaneswar, one double-storied building at Village- Badasarolo, 8 numbers of homestead plots at Bhubaneswar, Puri and Jagatsinghpur, one Chevrolet Car, 2 nos of two wheelers, deposits in different Banks, Post offices and Insurance companies, gold and silver ornaments, Hard Cash and costly household articles.  

During house search, the following movable and immovable assets have been so far unearthed from the possession of Sri Das and his family members.

INSPECTOR IN-CHARGE INTERCEPTED AND ARRESTED BY VIGILANCE

Cuttack,13/12/18: On receipt of reliable information regarding carrying of huge cash collected illegally from different illegal sources by Sri Amit Kumar Biswal, IIC, Bhandaripokhari PS, Dist- Bhadrak and travelling from Bhandaripokhari to his residential house at Baripada in a blue colour Hyundai i-20 Car bearing Registration No- OD 02AU- 0181, the officers of Vigilance Balasore Division, Balasore intercepted him yesterday i.e. on 11.12.2018 at 4:20 PM, on NH-5 near Sergarh Toll Gate, Sergarh, Dist- Balasore to ascertain the genuineness of the information. During interception, a sum of Rs. 73,500/- (Rupees Seventy Three Thousands Five Hundred) was found from the possession of Sri Biswal. On being asked, Sri Biswal failed to account for possession of such a huge amount of cash. 

Soon after interception and recovery of money from the possession of Sri Biswal, IIC, simultaneous house searches were conducted at two places i.e.  his residential house at Bhanjapur, Baripada Town and (2) residential Government quarter inside Bhandaripokhari PS campus. 

During house search, the following movable and immovable assets have so far been unearthed from the possession of Sri Biswal and his family members: -

MISCREANTS OPEN FIRE AT ROURKELA (!).

Rourkela,11/12/18:A Rourkela-based builder had a narrow escape after some unidentified miscreants opened fire at him on Tuesday morning near Beladihi in the outskirts of Rourkela. 

The  builder, identified as Anmol Singh, escaped unhurt in the attack one of his bodyguards sustained serious bullet injury. 

The Sources said,Singh accompanied by his bodyguards was on his way to home in Rourkela when the miscreants waylaid their car and fired 10 rounds of bullets. Later, the miscreants fled the area. 

On being informed, Rourkela Bramhanigaon police rush to  the spot and recovered five empty cartridges from the spot. 

Police have also launched a probe into the incident and a manhunt to zero in on the attackers.

ILLEGAL ALCOHOL INDUSTRY FOILED BY BERHAMPUR POLICE

Berhampur, 07.12.2018: Received information from reliable sources that one illegal manufacturing and packing for liquor are being organized in a tiffin hotel at village Borigam with assistance of the people from Berhampur at the outskirt of the city under Berhampur Sadar police limit.

 In a press meet IIC, Sadar PS SS Mahapatra told to scribes that getting the information a raid was conducted by the Sadar police team in the intervening night of 6.12.2018 in the presence of witnesses and found 3 persons were engaged in manufacturing and packing illegal foreign liquors. The accused persons were identified Narayan [email protected], Anil Kumar Sahu and Guruwari Sahu. During the interrogation they have indulged in such illegal manufacturing and packing of foreign liquors by using homeopathic medicine which contains 90% alcohol. After manufacturing and packing in bottles of different brand of foreign liquors like Mc. Dowel whisky, Officers Choice blue, Royal Stag, etc and refilling by collecting the used branded bottles from the authorized vendors, they too collecting the caps covers, logo of Odisha government excise and selling in the market. Another accused of Berhampur has absconded. From spot police recovered duplicate excise logo, labelling stickers of IMFL and other packing materials. Other than homeopathic medicine bottles(dilution), acid benz-phos 450ml 11 bottle, wheezal dilution medicine botte (450ml), 2 water jar containing some liquid item smelling alcoholic.

In a joint statement Additional SP Shntanu Kumar Dash and SDPO Ashok Mohanty told, keeping in view of the ensuing general election we determine to control this kind of illegal alcohol units to avoid the law and order in city and police very much vigilant on it.
